Hi all,

After a long period of using windows MCE:whistle: I am trying to return to mediaportal. :D
I have MP up and running on my system but there is one issue I can't solve.
For automatic sleep/wake cycles I use powerscheduler ++ and this works fine but only if the MP client is not running.
I have setup the system for hybridsleep and when I let the client run and it is doing nothing powerscheduler tries to put the system to sleep but it immediately reboots. In the windows log the only thing I can find is windows saying it recovered from an unexpected shutdown. The same happens when I try to put the system to sleep from within the shutdown menu in MP or by using the remotecontrol power button.
Is there something I overlooked in setting up the power settings in windows?:cry:

Sorry, forgot the logs:oops:

    What happens if you don't run the MP client or TV server and put the PC to sleep using the normal windows sleep. Does it sleep properly or does the same thing happen? It sounds to me like you might have a windows problem and not a MediaPortal problem.

    Everything works as it should as long as the mpclient is not running.
    So I don't think it is a windows problem, but still it is windows, you never know for sure!

    So you have windows own power setting disabled correct.

    What happens if you set hibernate as preferred method, any difference.

    Hallo, wim168!
    I had a short look into your logs and it seems that somehow your MySql database was not available.
    2012-03-04 17:08:28.051152 [Powerscheduler Timer(19)]: Powerscheduler: Exception in OnTimerElapsed(): The database backend (provider MySQL) could not be reached.
    Check the connection string: Server=Mediacenter_PC;Database=MpTvDb;User ID=root;Password=MediaPortal;charset=utf8;Connection Timeout=30;
    2012-03-04 17:42:17.082200 [Powerscheduler Timer(23)]: Powerscheduler: Exception in OnTimerElapsed(): The database backend (provider MySQL) could not be reached.
    Check the connection string: Server=Mediacenter_PC;Database=MpTvDb;User ID=root;Password=MediaPortal;charset=utf8;Connection Timeout=30;
    So please ensure that the TV-Server can reach the MySql Database.
    -You are using PowerScheduler++ right? So did you disable the standard PowerScheduler plugin inside MediaPortal?
    -Can you please post some screenshots with your current PowerScheduler++ settings?
    Regards,
    ge

    This morning I stopped the tvserver and tried to standby windows. No luck!
    So it seems to me that mediaportal has nothing to do with the problems I have.
    I wanted to upgrade to windows 7 for a while but could not find the time.
    It looks that a clean install of windows and mp will do the trick so thats what i'm going to do tonight.
    Thanks to all of you for the hints and ideas!
