Hi all
I'm having a problem when trying to watch live TV on my Windows XP MP Client.
it bombs out with an error "unable to create graph" and "unable to start timeshifting".

I ran the client in Debug mode which spat out the following ZIP file ... http://bgr.ath.cx/public/MediaPortalLogs_18_09_09.zip
Please accept my apologies if this is a little vague, I'm happy to provide any additional information if asked but I have no idea what else to add, except perhaps to say that if I go to the MP Server > Configuration > Preview a channel, it shows OK.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give.
My apologies for the double-post which can be found here --> https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/newcomers-forum-240/mp-client-unable-watch-live-tv-70686/ I can't find an option to delete the thread from there.

OK, so FYI I have been digging around and searching the web with google, although there were some similar posts here, nothing really helped BUT I tried to perform a time-shift from the server and got "unable to create graph".

After readin the error log I observed:-

Login failed for user 'sa'.
at System.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionPool.GetConnection(DbConnection owningObject)
at System.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionFactory.GetConnection(DbConnection owningConnection)
at System.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionClosed.OpenConnection(DbConnection outerConnection, DbConnectionFactory connectionFactory)
at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.Open()
at Gentle.Provider.SQLServer.SQLServerProvider.GetConnection()

Strange thing is, I've not changed my sa password :\
Continuing with some other ideas:-

Deleting contents of recorded folders
Deleting contents of timeshift folders
Removing certain codecs (eg FFShow)

... wish me luck!

Not entirely sure, as it has been some months, but I had the same problems. I think in my case it had to do with some ports not being open on the firewall. I shut down the firewall and all was fine.

Also, I see you are using a K-lite codec pack. These packs are known to give problems. So perhaps the codec is the problem. It's best to install the codec pack that's here:
https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/codecs-external-players-55/saf-v4-00rc1-standalone-filters-dxva-ready-mpeg2-h-264-vc-1-a-44614/
on a fresh install, instead of k-lite solutions.

hello and thank you for your reply henk99;
I have all firewalls turned off on my LAN as I am protected by a hardware firewall solution from the internet ... i thought it may be the codec pack and so removed this, rebooted and hit the same problem!

I decided to wipe the software and settings from the server pc, remove all codec packs, reboot and try again .. it refused to play even locally but with a different error.

In the meantime, I have myth tv (on a seperate server) working so been using that and using the Myth player for my Windows client ... I might have some spare time in the next few days to try this Media portal solution again and will update/post when done.

All the best
