mp crashes (system restarts with no other messages) when viewing a hd wmv format video. It begins to play, but after some seconds (may be a minute or so) my system is rebooted. It happens for example with this video: http://www.gamershell.com/download_15935.shtml and with many others also. I've only ffdshow installed and NVidia Purevideo codec... no other codecs/packs installed.

I've also noticed a lot of errors with sqlite database when examining the logs, i don't know if it's related to this error or it's causing another problems... anyway, take a look at the attached log files.

regards,

Try opening up the ffdshow "video decoder configuration" (located in the start menu), and then from the codecs tab, scroll down until you see wmv1/7, wmv2/8, etc., and then click the decoder column for those, and switch all of the wmv from the default "libavcodec" to "wmv9" instead and then see if that fixes the crashes/slowdown.

I've them all as 'disabled' (i though that 'disabled' means that the default windows codec will be used...) but i will try using wmv9 as you suggested.

I'm having a similar issue. System doesn't reboot on WMV's but MP crashes to the point where I have to bring up Task Manager and kill/restart MP.

I tried switching the WMV's in ffdshow codecs, but the only options for me there are libavcodec and disabled. WMV9 is not an option.

Suggestions anyone?

Thanks!
