Hi everyone; first off, many thanks to the awesome people whose work has delivered us media portal.

Now, an issue: After booting MP and navigating around (using the StreamedMP skin and Moving pictures etc. plugin, but also with other skins such as Aeon), Coming back to basichome.xml leads to a deficient home screen (for example, in streamedMP the auxilliary text such as "watch your" is absent, and then a crash when one tries to navigate through the list.

This effect seems to happen most often after a stream (any stream, music, TV, radio, XVid..etc.) is stopped and navigation is performed.

I'm a little at a loss to explain this behaviour. IIRC, it started with RC4 (the time-window between RC4 and 1.0 was too small to be sure), but the problem was absent in RC2. I performed a cleam uninstall/reboot/install to get to 1.0, so I don't think it's an upgrade gone arwy. Anyway, I've attached two recent crash logs; if anyone has any ideas I'd be chuffed to bits!

I had similar symptoms while playing around with Video Renderer Settings (testing something else).

Make sure you are in EXPERT MODE of Configuration. Then go to DirectShow Filter Control then to Video Renderer Settings. Mine works without problem on VMR9, but then again, I am on XP and you are ob Vista. Try a few diferent combinations and please do report back.

Another thing if my memory serves me right - in Vista, it is recomended that aero is on.

I have this problem, but assumed it was the stremedmp theme, but you report it is also present in aeon. Maybe any skins with a changing background image??

Yeah, same here :) also thought it was streamedmp.

However, after my playing with Video Renderer Settings, it did not happen again.
I see you are on XP. Wat is your settings in Video Renderer?

Many thanks for your reply. :D

I am in expert mode, and was ov EVR; switching to VMR9 gives me a different issue. It no longer crashes, but after playing a DivX video, exiting, it seems to drop me back to the desktop, but it's just that the MP basichome is invisible! I can still "click" on it, even though I only see the desktop. Are there some extra features to play around with that I can try? I'm really keen to keep using EVR, as I'm using the hardware acceleration on my GFX to decode our DVB-T streams.

Aero is on in vista. Thanks for your suggestions!

I'm thinking I might try a total system uninstall/reinstall; I wonder if something is FUBAR somewhere.

Highly possibly as i had problems after RC4 was installed and even deleting all the relevant install files still had problems.
Reinstalled vista with MP1.0 and the problem has gone, change reverted on MP1.0 but looks like it affected Windows network connections, so uninstall did not fix.

I have these freezes like mentioned in this thread on a daily base. Mostly after watching TV or a movie and getting back to basic home I get the message: Mediaportal is not responding. Then MP has to be closed. A restart of MP and the problem is gone. Yes, I have StreamedMP too.

Here are my logs.... seems to be something with Movingpictures?
