MP crashes to toolbar (1 Viewer)

Hi,

when playing movies, mostly .avi's such as recent doctor who etc, I regularly get this issue:

Playing the file ok, then all of a sudden, MP drops to the tool bar. I cannot fully restore the program, though using the remote, I can start and stop the file - as I can still hear it playing. I just cannot see it.

I have to kill the app to get it back again.

Either use 8.5 driver or 8.7 beta, both seem to solve problems with the 8.6 driver.

I used both 8.3 and 8.7 now, and the problem still randomly occurs.

Some more details:

- while watching, the application minimizes its self to an icon in the toolbar.
- the desktop is thus visable, and I can use the mouse etc
- if i right click the MP icon, I get the options Restore and Exit
- Exit closes the app
- Restore tries to 'reopen' the application. I can see the window as if it were in the Taskbar. However, the actual program wont open. So the only thing left to do, is to kill the app.

I was hoping someone else had seen this issue - and had an easy solution

From now on, I'll will open MP via the test tool, so I can capture the logs the next time it happens.

Hi,

I'm updating this thread with my MediaPortalLogs file.

I was able to reproduce the issue, rebooting each time, starting the file - would always crash. Here's the log - hope someone can help decode it!!

If you are using divx codec make sure that the tray icon is disabled for it.

err - im using ffdshow i think. When MP drops to the toolbar, I can also see 2 icons belonging to ffdshow i think. Do they need to be off?

No. ffdshow can have those icons enabled, but divx tray tool is stealing the focus (bug maybe?) and that causes trouble for MP.

Update: I turned off the "use exclusive" option for VMR9 and it works now! It also works when I change to EVR.

Not sure what is better - VRM9 without exclusive OR just use EVR. Either way - no crashing
