Hello,

I have problem, while MovPic plugin enabled, i cant whatch any of my movies. It shows all the info about movie, backdrops, thumbs etc. But on press Play it just hangs  And it seems movies cant play in MP's My movies too. It plays ok while plugin is disabled.
Im on MP 1.2b Win7 sp1 32b, but same was on 1.1.3 (i think )
My movies are on local pc and in NAS via samba.
Could it be database problem? After upgrading from 113 i thought it was due upgrading, so decided to do clean install of MP1.2b.
After adding first part of my movies (from local pc) i checked - everything was ok, all movies were playable.
After adding from NAS - Not OK :(
And MovPic configuration crashed on me after adding from NAS, but all the movies are on MovePic.
Please advise what to do, maybe delete database and start new one?
Maybe im missing something obvious?
Thanks in advance.

    Ah sorry forgot obout it...
    Here it is.

The obvious problems I can see are that you have a ton of skin errors in MediaPortal.log file, which are probably the result of you using MePo v1.1.x skin files on your MePo v1.2.x installation. Since it shows that you were at least able to start playback it is probably not the cause, but it clearly shows you have some mixed in stuff from previous setup and new 1.2 beta, so you should look into that for a nice clean setup without skin errors.

On the actual movie in question that you tried to play "Howls' Castle"; it is split over 2 media files, but the order is wrong. You should open MovingPictures configuration, goto "Movie Manager" tab, select the movie in question, then change it from "Movie Details" to "File Details" overview via the drop down option, and adjust the "Playback order" correctly.

Also TVServer seemed to have freaked out a few minutes before you started playback.

I also couldn't help but notice that you have a large Asian movie collection, so you might be interested in the IMDb+ scraper (link in my signature) to get more title options, such as "13 Assassins (Jûsan-nin no shikaku)". Or force English titles when Lithuanian titles exist at imdb.com, so that "Avatar" is not show as "Isikunijimas" in your collection, unless of course you prefer it in Lithuanian

So to debug more, fix the playback order, perhaps disable TVServer and look at your skin files (restore them to proper DefaultWide versions otherwise), and then try it again and post new logs.

    Hi,

first, thanks for your help RoChess! I'm out of ideas about this 'non playing' issue.

After trying upgrade from 1.1.3 to 1.2b and still failing playback, i did Full Mediaportal Products cleanup and only then installed 1.2b So i assume non of old skins shoud present, or i must delete it manualy somwhere? Now in C:\Users\All Users\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\skin i have only default and defaultwide folders.

With TV i have no problems, it plays ok. Only one interesting thing, on my dvbt stick are lights that is on when tuner in use. So it stays on forever. I thought it grabs EPG but under TVserver configs manual control it says tuner is idle  Never had such things under earlier releases.
By the way how to desable tv server? I stoped tv service manualy, but MP activated it on sturtup :) So ihave to AltTab and stop it again? I atached logs with manualy stoped TVservice and tryed random movie. This time only one file per movie :)
And thanks about info about that scraper thing, but i'm still very new MovePic user. But i definately try it out in near future, especialy now when i know where to ask questions :) :D

referring to the "missing control id's"?

I wasn't getting the warnings myself on my test environment, so I thought it was caused by some older skin files getting installed that overwrote their DefaultWide skin files. Not that it still would cause major problems, but I wasn't sure if it couldn't interfere somehow. However I just checked on my HTPC where I got v1.2b installed as well and I'm noticing the exact same problems. The test setup must be too bare to register those missing control IDs.

I'm out of ideas about this 'non playing' issue.

It looks to be clearly a MediaPortal issue, because MovingPictures in the log file shows that at "03-May-2011 20:57:04" it commenced the playback of a movie. At that point it passes the movie onto MePo which should then do the actual playback.

In the dxdiag.txt log file, I do notice that you have CoreAVC, DivX, ffdshow and some other codecs installed. It is very easy for codecs to mess up when they are not configured correctly. Open MediaPortal configuration, and click on "Codecs and Renderer", verify you have the following settings for "Video Codecs":

MPEG-2 Video decoder: MPC - MPEG-2 Video Decoder (Gabest)
H.264 Video decoder: MPC - Video Decoder
MPEG / AC3 audio decoder: MPC - MPA Decoder Filter
AAC audio decoder: MPC - MPA Decoder Filter
    Audio renderer: Default DirectSound device

(make sure checkbox for "Automatic Decoder Settings is *NOT* enabled).

Then click on "Video Renderer" tab.

Since you have Windows 7, the "Enhanced Video Renderer (EVR)" should be selected.

Use the MPC-HC (MediaPlayerClassic - HomeCinema) standalone program otherwise to test if the MPC codecs work fine on your computer with the same media files. If that works, then it is *always* possible to have MediaPortal work with them as well. In worst case you have to download the latest version of the MPC-HC standalone filters, but the versions bundled with MediaPortal (provided they installed correct) should still work as well.

It looks to be clearly a MediaPortal issue...

    Hey Rochess,

i'm using SAF 5.0 codec pack. So basicaly all of the codecs in MP set to ffdshow(h264 set to ffdshowDXVA), only for TV h264 is CoreAVC. Tryed changing it to MPCHC with no luck.
Now i once more deleted movingpictures.db3 and MovPic folder in thumbs. Added only local pc movies and what do you know... It plays ok AGAIN! Dont know if it will be any good, but ataching logs with good playback.
Is there posibility that my NAS is at fault fo that non playing issue?
My NAS = 3.5 750Gb HDD atached to Router via SATA to USB adapter. Router is running ddwrt/optware/samba3
Now wil try adding movies from NAS...

P.S. And how do i get rid of Divix codec?? I thought i uninstaled it

Ok, think i know where the problem is... Atleast i managed to add all of my movies from nas to movpic and they playback in MP as it should.
I think problem is related to media scaner, because it get stuck on 'retrieving media information' i waited for an hour, still green progress bar at the bottom of importer shows 'retrieving media...' after trying to close movepic configuriation it hangs all of the MP config and i have to force close it. And after that crash MP fails to playback... Tryed it about ten times, on sucsesful movepic config close playback is OK, after crash - FAILS  So now i unchecked Auto retrieve media info in importer and all is good... except that there is no media info ofcourse :) I'll atache logs after the crash, maybe thre are some useful info in it.
And i dont think its NAS related, because after failed adding i moved one movie to local pc and it still got stuck on 'retrieving media...'
