While that is a good method to use, it will not get your card detected. The reason its not finding it is obviously the hardwareID is not recognised from the capturecardsdefinitions.xml. The reason for that can be

    a) wrong drivers
    b) card isnt supported (which it should be)
    c) this varient isnt supported (which you will need to do the 'how to get my hardware tv card supported).

By varient I mean brand, each manufacturer can have different hardwareIDs.

    Youre right.. No change

I searched my capturecardsdefinitions.xml, for a Power Color Theater 550Pro capture card file, but all I found was: ="Sapphire Theatrix 550 Pro"

Should I do like they explain on this page here:http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/Add_TVCard_to_natively_supported_list inorder to get it supported?

I have tried to get all det filters from my capture card with GraphEdit. I have mailed it to dman.

My filter names and filter moniker:

I tried to make a new entry in the .xml file for the Power Color capture card like this:

capturecard commercialname="Power Color Theater 550 Pro" capturename="ATI AVStream Analog Capture" devid="ven_1002&dev_4d53&subsys_a3481002&rev_00">
    capabilities tv="true" radio="true" mpeg2="true" mce="false" sw="false" bda="false"/>
    tv>
    interface cat="mux" video="" audio="" mpeg2="0"/>
    filters>
    filter cat="tvtuner" name="ATI AVStream Analog Tuner" checkdevice="true"/>
filter cat="tvaudio" name="ATI AVStream Analog TV Audio" checkdevice="true"/>
    filter cat="crossbar" name="ATI AVStream Analog Xbar" checkdevice="true"/>
    filter cat="capture" name="ATI AVStream Analog Capture" checkdevice="true"/>
    filter cat="mux" name="ATI AVStream MPEG2 Multiplexer" checkdevice="true"/>
    /filters>
    connections>
    connection sourcefilter="tvtuner" sourcepin="0" sinkfilter="crossbar" sinkpin="%tvtuner%"/>
    connection sourcefilter="tvtuner" sourcepin="1" sinkfilter="tvaudio" sinkpin="0"/>
    connection sourcefilter="tvaudio" sourcepin="3" sinkfilter="crossbar" sinkpin="%audiotuner%"/>
    connection sourcefilter="crossbar" sourcepin="0" sinkfilter="capture" sinkpin="0"/>
    connection sourcefilter="crossbar" sourcepin="1" sinkfilter="capture" sinkpin="1"/>
    connection sourcefilter="capture" sourcepin="3" sinkfilter="mux" sinkpin="0"/>
    connection sourcefilter="capture" sourcepin="4" sinkfilter="mux" sinkpin="1"/>
    /connections>
(had to remove some signs (<) inorder to make it display properly!)

But what is "source pin" and "sinkpin"?

Ned some help to understand the connection in det GraphEdit between the filters.

I decided to upgrade my brother's version of MediaPortal to the latest and greatest and it couldn't create the graph for his XTASY THEATER 550 PRO.
So I guess I need to do the same thing but this card worked fine with the prerelease version of MP.

Are we going to have to go through this every time there's a major release?

FWIW, updating to the latest ATi drivers fixed my problem.

There were some major driver releases for this card at about the same time as the MP release, which might contribute to the issue. These items were fixed very quickly by the devs, so maybe try the latest SVN.

It would be nice to have the PowerColor card listed in the capturecard definitions, though it is mostly for peace of mind, as it seems to work for me even displayed as an ATI.

This card shows up as an ATi as well. As long as it works I don't care. However, at least 1 550 card manufacturer chose not to include a radio tuner and I wonder if that will be a problem.
