MP does not allow folder to be browsed - MP1.0 is *buggy* (1 Viewer)

Running Vista SP1, with MP1.0 (a very buggy release imo, though frankly MP in general has always been buggy) when I select a folder (m:\foo) within 'My Videos' MP goes to black then goes back to the Video share menu again. This has only just started happening today. Within my Music I can select the 'foo' share correctly. I have re-created the share, using a different name, to no avail.

There is nothing related to this problem here:

Can someone provide me with a non-stripped binary to generate some meaningful data from this?

OK, if you think that MP 1.0 is buggy, how about you help the MP developers by reporting those bugs with sufficient detail that they are able to reproduce them?

Have you read "How to start a support or bugreport thread"?

That's because no-one else has reported this issue ....

I am not sure what you mean, but there are plenty of log files generated by MediaPortal which should give us a clue as to why you cannot access that folder.

Buggy??? i have been using MP for ages and its never been a problem, most of the time its the other rubbish users install on the PC that affects MP
On a dedicated HTPC MP is very stable

    What skin are you using?
    Are you using any Plugins?
try using default MP skin without any extra plugins and see if that helps,

And as Taipan as said, please post your logs. MP devs are good, but unfortunaley they have yet to master mind reading

    Hi,

All fair comments, i wrote my post late at night and currently quite ill. apologies.

I'll dig out the logs and post accordingly.

    thanks,
    chris

    Ok, fixed!

2009-01-06 13:45:58.286363 [ERROR][MPMain]: render Out failed:0, trying alternative graph builder
    2009-01-06 13:45:59.340983 [ERROR][MPMain]: DVDPlayer:Unable to start playing() 0x:80040209
    2009-01-06 13:46:01.683606 [ERROR][MPMain]: PlaylistPlayer: *** unable to play - M:\foo\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO - skipping track!

Appears that if there is a VIDEO_TS folder in the root of a share, MP tries to play it automatically. To me, that's a bug; MP should list the files, not attempt to play just because it sees a VIDEO_TS folder. I guess i will escalate this to the dev team via a bugreport.

    thanks again,
    chris
