This seems to be happening to me here and there... I really can't pin point it down. I will click on the exit button and it will stay highlighted but do nothing. I just installed RC4 with SVN 5-10-06 today and it was pretty much right after setup is when it happened. It's a very clean install. When it locks up I was on a page that displayed the time... the time was 10:14. I ctrl-alt-del and killed MP... and then grabbed the log.

HERE is my log... but here is what I am looking at..

Anyone seen this issue? I was thinking that the import (whatever it was importing) was holding it up.. but it should have then minimized around 10:21 instead of 11:48.

    Hi,

I can confirm this problem, and it's pretty annoying. On my HTPC this always happends after some time. I don't know how much time, but I think it's more than 15 minutes.

    Regards

Autoper... could you please use this template to tell us what your system looks like? Also, when ever you have any logs go HERE and paste the log into pastebin and link it here... so we have some sort of idea what is going on. Thats the only way we are going to solve these type of issues.

I have the same problem and both my friends using MP as well.
The problem has been there to a varying degree ever since the feature "minimize to tray" was added. I have reported it a couple of times in different threads but no one seems to own the problem. I think this feature was added by someone outside the developing team and not much seems to be done to clean it up. I really like the feature so it's a shame that it is not really working!

My take on the issue (not nowing much about the cogs and wheels inside MP) is that when minimizing to tray MP does not "release" the video overlay back to windows. I have noticed that if I hit the quick key on my keyboard to change update frequenzy from 50 Hz to 60 Hz Windows manages to get control back and "kills" the Mediaportal control of the screen. Also, this problem occurs less often if I make sure video is not playing when minimizing to tray.

Hope this helps a little bit.

    this happens to me als

when i use MP in windowed mode (on my games PC), i find that if i try watching any movies ...then close them...then hit the "X" icon ..it will just hang and not close MP..and because MP is forced "Alwayz on Top"..i can never do anything :(

my only trick to work around this problem is to hit the "Standby" buton on my keyboard..then bring the PC out of standby....then everything is good and MP is minimised to the sys tray where it should be

This started with RC3 snv 4-07-2006-01-11 for me to latest RC4+SVN.

Helps if I stop anything playing on the home screen before exiting, if it doesn't close I just hit the green button the try again, usally works after 1-2 goes.

I wanted to test this out and try to reproduce it the best I could. It seems like it is very easy to make the GUI lock up when a video is playing. If I have a video playing in the preview screen and click exited... I get the screenshot below. When I restore it.. it goes to full video.

    HERE is my full log.
