You need to be fairly quick, ie have powerscheduler config open, hit the run "xmlTVNZ.exe", you should now see the process listed, just hope it run's for more than a few seconds.

For the record, you can manually add processes too (ie: type text into this field once you have identified the process).

    Maybe that's obvious!

Now I wonder if you had put "xmlTVNZ.exe" into the process tab of powerscheduler, it would have worked.

Something like this does need to be documented, as it obviously does cause major headaches, as you found :(

The problem in Grahams case was that the external program shuts the PC down before MediaPortal was fully running. This was caused by a 20 sec delay for the card detection (see TVSetup - Delay for TV detection).

Yeah, adding the xmlTVNZ.exe file manually rather than the drop down list was obvious!!!

    Hi Bavarian,

    Thanks for the note.

What is this external process?? Is it in Windows - I wonder if there is a delay setting for this? Should this not be part of the Powerscheduler program to stop this? That would mean any command line would be overwritten - correct?

Also, I have noticed that when I run a task setup in the processes tab, it keeps the machine from sleeping, however as soon as I exit the program, the machine shutsdown instantly. I would have thought that it would sleep based on the idle setting i.e. just like I had finished using MP Client.

I'm beginning to see why users simply say stuff it and leave the machine running!!!

    Any thoughts on the above??

    Regards

    Hi Graham,

External process means, when Powerscheduler sees this process running he will not shut down.
Yes, Powerscheduler can avoid a shut down when it is not forced, otherwise it is not possible.

If you have log files for me I will have a look.

    Hi Bavarian,

Generally I have had a stable machine since loading the "bat" file mentioned previously into Task Scheduler.

On times it doesn't wake for scheduled recordings or on some occasions wakes and goes back to sleep, it appears to be when the scheduled task has failed due to being unable to connect to the internet. I have a wireless motherboard and wireless router and sometimes I loose connection.

I'm going to try and add to the Powerscheduler processes the task that runs to pull the EPG and execute this from Powerscheduler to see what happens. I'm hoping that Powerscheduler will handle things better and if it works no less than Task Scheduler, at least everything is in one place.

I'm not logged on, but I see there is an EPG tickbox import setting which allows / disallows re-importing the whole EPG download (rather than just the changes) I was thinking this might help where there is no internet connection i.e. it will not override everything with nothing. Any thoughts? I have seen everything blanked out before.

One last thing, I notice that if a set a scheduled recording for say every week at the same time and for some reason the scheduled time changes (even by 5 minutes) MP does not record it? e.g. if I set every week on a channel at 7:30 to 8:30 and the following week it's 7:35 to 8:35. It's a pitty that you cannot get MP to simply search by a keyword and if it finds it, it records it no matter what time it's on.

Oh, and one final thing. I'm often finding that after waking the machine from sleep there is "no card available" meaning it will not record and I cannot view TV. Have tried closing MP and re-opening (thinking it was the delay setting on the card - 10 seconds) but no luck. I have to re-boot, which is very frustrating.

Any thoughts on the above appreciated.

    Regards

    Graham

I have a similar issue regarding the functioning of my sat-card when resuming from S3 Sleep.
When I resume from S3 sleep, I always get the message that there is no signal and the card doesn't seem to work.
I solved this by checking the option "Reinitialize service on wakeup (also reinitializes tuner)" in the Plugins/PowerScheduler/Advanced section of the TVS Configuration panel.

Since I do this, I have never had any issues with the card not being available.

    Hi Peter,

Thanks for the note - appreciated.

Yeah, I'm aware of this setting and have that ticked. Once upon a time in versions prior to Version 1 final, forums have mentioned leaving it unticked as it caused issues, but version 1 seems to be much more stable.

This issue does not happen all the time, but when it does, it's annoying.

Was wondering whether there is a way of activating the card again without re-booting the machine? Does anybody know this??

    Regards

    Graham

    Hi All,

Since moving the EPG load execution from within Powerscheduler, I don't seem to have had any issues if I make sure the actual execution program is specified in the "Processes" tab to ensure Powerscheduler does not send the machine to sleep while it's running ... which was an issue previously (I think)

Not sure at this stage how it would handle things if my wireless connection failed to the router or the internet was not available? This happened when I had the task in Task Scheduler (Windows) and things went haywire.

Anyhow, will see how it goes over the next few weeks and will post back my findings.

Does anybody have any suggestions around the situation where a show I try and record weekly has a slightly different time from week to week and therefore does not record? I was hoping there could be a search option on keyword or name - not sure if there are any options in Version 1 final or in the future to solve this. Might try recording with a big pre / post setting so if it change by say 5 minutes, it might still pick it up.

    Regards

    Graham
