Recently I've changed my HTPC hardware and OS. From a moderately old Athlon X2 system to this system you see above in the specs.
I've also switched from Windows xp to Windows 7 mainly because of the supported TRIM function my SSD needs.

On my old system HDTV (both cable and x264 mkv's) ran smoothly with or without the OSD showing. With my new system and OS I run into some issue's:
When I watch TV (HD) and pull up the EPG, the small video screen that is still shown is very coppy and never runs smooth. The scrolling text (from the epg) is also scrolling coppy (both horizontal and vertical).
When I watch full screen TV (HD) and pull up the OSD the full screen video also becomes coppy and running smooth again when OSD dissappears.

In SD TV, DVD, SD avi, HD mkv's this problem doesn;t occur.

I've looked at the windows taskmanager during these procceses and the CPU rarely reaches higher than 60%.
I've also switched from my onboard Radeon 4200 video card to the one from my old HTPC which is a Radeon 4350 in the hope that it was all related to a slow IGP. But there is no difference with the Radeon 4350 installed.
Switching from SAF 4 to SAF 5 beta didn't make a difference also.

Anyone know where to begin with this problem. Only thing I can think of that's different with my old systeem is EVR instead of VMR9 in XP.

Under Windows XP deinterlacing of Live HDTV wasn't a problem in MP. Does Windows 7 handle this differently?

    Oke, I didn't know that.

Shamefully I have to confess that I thought that the VMR9 option was greyed-out in MP config. For some reason I didn't notice that it wasn't until today.
When using VMR9 everything runs smoothly again :).

Does EVR have any benefits? In a quick search I could only find that the image quality is a little bit better. I do notice a slightly clearer image, but it's not that big of a difference if at all.

Your tweak didn't seem to work. All is still the same.

    Thanks for the information.
It seems Windows XP is still the way to go for me. Didn't like Windows 7 anyway to much bling bling ;) (I see your still using Windows XP to)
