MP freezes/hangs on 'Initialising (Initializing) Input Devices’ (1 Viewer)

I tried to turn MP on this morning and it froze on ‘Initializing Input Devices’. Despite several restarts, it would not load beyond this point.

I’m at work at the moment, so can’t do any further investigation – where should I be looking in order to solve/diagnose this fault?

Generate a log set 1st - see http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_MEDIAPORTAL_1/16_Support/3_Forums/2_Log_Files

Look at the Mediaportal.txt file that's created, this may give you info you need, if not, post logs, sure there will be someone (or more) who'll be happy to take a look and hopefully get you back into service PDQ.

i guess - logs? what are the last lines in mediaportal.log and error.log saying?

Finally - some log files.

I have tired a few things (disabling plugins mainly) and no change.

FWIW, I cannot access the 'TV Server COnfiguration'; it simply does nothing.

Error.txt reports the following...

you have real problems with your OS - your event log is full of strange errors and it seems you are resetting it every 2-3 minutes.

The previous system shutdown at 07:57:21 on ‎27/‎02/‎2013 was unexpected.

Thanks. Running the error-check on the SQL DB fixed the problem - thanks!

Overnight, we had a power-cut and this must have caused the DB problems.

From what I can gather, the Windows errors seem to be related to the power-cut and the fact that I had to 'force' Mediaportal to close. The new system-checking facility in Windows 8 reports no errors.

I will get some Log files out of MP again tonight and see if the OS errors are still there.

Same problem here. It only happens sometimes, then it suddenly fixes itself and its working for some time.

Here is another one, launched from Watchdog:

1. Launched MP through Watchdog (first option - Report bug to Team Mediaportal, so no plugins are involved).
2. Loading frozen on "Initializing Input Devices".
3. Killed it using task manger after some time, so it gathered all logs.

When issue happens, it will happen over and over again until reboot. I'm not 100% on when it starts happening, but it appears its connected to wake from sleep (this time MP was frozen when I woke HTPC out of sleep, so I killed it and restarted it. Then it stalled on this error. Reboot fixed it.)
