    Hi,

MediaPortal takes a long time to play a track from a large folder with MP3 files(2000+).

It looks like MP tries to read all the files' tags before playing the selected file. Naturally it takes a longtime to play the first track in that folder but after that it's easy to play other tracks.

Is there some way to disable pre-lookup of the tags before playback or disable the music database altogether?
I only use Shares / 'Filename' view and do not care about sorting the files/folder using other views.

Any help will be appreciated on this issue.

    Thanks.

    Kris

    Marcel,

I deleted 'group' & '1' from the artist 'Music View', still doesn't work. MP still tries to read the files' tags.

Wish this worked just like the old Meedio, read the filename and play instead of adding the tags to the database.

untick the option "Use ID3 tags / autoadd file to music database" found in first tab of Music -> Plaer settings.
    see if that works.

    hwahrmann,

That worked. So obvious, I must be blind missing this option.

    Thank you very much.
