ok... but for me, it's not clear when it happens... sometimes it works perfect with recordings and sometimes it doesn't... and when it happens, it's only black, so I never had the last screen. when i got you right, it's happening all the time for you? do you have an USB tuner?

    Nope, it's PCI.
Not sure if it's 100% times, but it's quite often when TV Server wakes computer for recording.
If I remember correctly I think it happens sometimes even if computer is already on, I think I was browsing EPG once and it froze screen when recording started.

i reverted to RC6 and the same thing happens... so there are more things possible to break sth... can't check the htpc in detail atm. for me, it's just when auto resuming from standby. so perhaps sth with powerscheduler and communication between server and client (i have singleseat, powerscheduler in server and client with same settings)

How should I setup power plugins, not sure what should I do there.
Currently your TV plugin is set to stay on all the time so will only go to standby manually. What have you got set in the MP client config?

    now i have some logs.

powerscheduler standby htpc at 19:14, started recording at 20:08, came back at 21:44 turned on tv, black screen -> left tv on and 21:59/22:00 MP came back to life.

now the big question: why did it take 15min to bring MP back to life? (what I did was: pressing ctrl+alt+del at 21:46 -> nothing... on 21:59/22:00 "ctrl+alt+del"-screen appeared -> cancel -> MP responds on remote)

I hope the logs are telling something... i just gathered the logs, which captured some activities...

Recording starts - PC wakes up:

    2010-11-01 20:08:07.514000 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: Main: WM_POWERBROADCAST: 18
2010-11-01 20:08:07.529000 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: Main: Windows has resumed from standby or hibernate mode to handle a requested event
2010-11-01 20:08:07.530000 [Debug][MPMain(1)]: Main: OnResumeAutomatic - set lock for syncronous inits
    2010-11-01 20:08:07.531000 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: Main: OnResumeAutomatic - Done

User activity happens - system fully awake:

    2010-11-01 21:44:50.152000 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: Main: WM_POWERBROADCAST: 7
2010-11-01 21:44:50.153000 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: Main: Windows has resumed from hibernate mode
2010-11-01 21:44:50.155000 [Debug][MPMain(1)]: Main: OnResume - set lock for syncronous inits
2010-11-01 21:44:50.156000 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: Main: OnResume - Switch to basic home screen

    WM_POWERBROADCAST Message (Windows)

So, basicly what happens is that the system doesn't send the WM_POWERBROADCAST: 7 when it wakes up on the timer event. If I remember correctly there is some workaround setting in MP config for badly behaving HW / drivers like that.

    tourettes:
thx for the info. i just posted the logs, because nobody seemed to be able to get some "useful" logs.

    2010-11-01 20:08:07.514000 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: Main: WM_POWERBROADCAST: 18
2010-11-01 20:08:07.529000 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: Main: Windows has resumed from standby or hibernate mode to handle a requested event

I agree with this. HTPC was in standby and automatically woke up for recording.

    2010-11-01 21:44:50.152000 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: Main: WM_POWERBROADCAST: 7
2010-11-01 21:44:50.153000 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: Main: Windows has resumed from hibernate mode

but why does it recognize hibernate at this point, when i switch on tv?

will try some new nvidia drivers and report back...

ok... a bit old, but I have news...

I have a project, where I need to catch the PowerBroadcasts. Now I know how it works and I understand this MP problem a bit better... After looking in MediaPortal.cs I found sth.

ResumeAutomatic has another behaviour then ResumeSuspend. So the trick is the S3-Trick... I didn't try this earlier because I thought this has sth to do with the restart.vbs! Now I know better and the only problem is that after ResumeAutomatic my HTPC waits for a userInput. So after OnResumeAutomatic() it needs the OnResume() too.

Hope this helps someone out there... No Bug :D
