MP got suddenly mute - Windows has sound (1 Viewer)

H all,

I have just installed MP for the first time and I think it is absolutely great!!!
However, I have had a sudden problem; there was audio but suddenly the whole MP got mute. Windows and other programs have sound. It is juts MP.
Any idea?

unmute it...with either yur remote control or click on the sound icon on your tanksbar and click "mixer" it should show you all the programs running on your pc that use sound

make sure MP is running when you click on the sound icon

Hi again,

I have found a winamp EQ plugin Shibatch equalizer plugin - Winamp.
The plugin is a DLL, and according to MP's documentation it has to be copied to Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MusicPlayer\plugins\dsp folder

I had to create that dsp folder. It wasnt there. Is that normal?

Unfortunately, the plugin doesnt show in the music DSP section of the Config window.

What am i doing wrong?

Are you are sure you have put the files in the program files folder not the program data one?

Also check that the zip did not contain folders (so the actual files are in the dsp folder)

Yes, it was in the wrong place...
I had it in ...\MediaPortal\plugins\dsp
and it should have been in ...MediaPortal\MusicPlayer\plugins\dsp folder

An extra question
The plugin EQ can be configured from the MP config. As far as I know, MP and MP config can not run at the same time, which means that the EQ wont operate in real time, which is quite annoying... since a lot of tweaking is usually needed to get the eq right...
Is there any way to modify the EQ plugin settings whilst MP plays music?

There is a test box and play button inside config. I have never actually tried this but it would appear you can point this at a file and then press play. This should then act as if playing through MP

The Test file option does not seem to work for me. I get all the time a "Cant play file" message...

Some people like to constanly tweak the EQ depending on the genre. So, I think it would be quite convenient to have an EQ integrated into the main MP interface, as it is the case with any other music player out there: Media monkey, WMP, itunes, winamp, foobar...


Another idea, which willl probably make no sense...

I have seen that there are also plugins for external players (winamp, itunes, foobar)
Those 3 players have a built in EQ and I wondor if their EQ could be used if the players are enabled in MP

I have enabled those plugins but nothing seems to happen (The players are installed). What is supposed to happen with those plugins? Should the songs play from those players and we visually see the external players interface? Or is a transparent process?
