Description
Further to my previous live tv/epg issues, but possibly unrelated.. attached is a crash dump from today...large file!!

Any help appreciated.. as always.. would love to get to a stable and reliable MP that I can count on.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Nothing was playing (MP was idle, at main menu screen)
2. Went to EPG, told it to record a programme on BBC 1 HD. Apparent success.
3. Selected another channel to view (ITV4 iirc), MP hangs and have to end the process + dump logs.

I have updated to 1.2.3 and can confirm the issue still persists. Testing TV in the configuration program (4 users, 59 total channels) works fine. After rebooting, live TV works in MP fine. After a while it stops working though. It hasn't died whilst actually watching something, but if you select live tv after MP has been running a while it doesn't work. I don't know how long the delta is before failure.

Hi can you put your system specifications into your profile, this helps us as much as logs.

Especially as we seem to be finding more and more onboard NIC's are giving problems with disconnections, even with hardwired networks.

Is this a single seat setup or multiple users (suspect later from one of your comments)

    Thanks

    Ray,

I'll update my profile now. This is a single user.

edit: system specs added, need to confirm codecs

There's a couple of things in log, but not much

    1. is Windows time server cannot update, whether that is related to network is does not show, as logs stopped

    2. TVServer was checking disk space after you selected channel that MP crashed on.

So could be network or disk space, these areas I would look at first, unless someone has a better idea.

ps. if you are only running a singleseat setup you might consider switching to the MSLoopback adapter, that will eliminate any network issues, such as disconnections.

TV Server is configured to use a local drive (C: ) for recordings and timeshifting.

This HTPC requires network access, for streaming media from a file server elsewhere on the network.

Then what I suggest, pick a time when you only want to watch tv, run mediaportal in debug mode, that you access from the START menu, this will run MP with default skin and no plugins using option 1, see if you can repeat error, hopefully the logs created there may be more informative, or point to something else, ie installed plugin causing the crash, if you cannot get it to repeat the failure.

ps. the loopback adapter only affects tv, so as long as the tv card is in the machine it plays back on, it does not matter, sadly network is the biggest cause of tv failure in MP

Ok, as requested attached logfiles from a crash whilst in debug mode. Live TV worked, then started watching other media, went back to tv guide, selected a channel and it hangs.

The log dumper threw an exception too so hopefully the zip file is complete.

And.. another set of dumps. So the previous logfiles were generated last night when it crashed. It dumped the logfiles and MP restarted. I didn't touch it.

Now I just went straight to the guide, chose a channel and it hung. I have a feeling it's something with the back end/tv-server rather than the front end.

    Hi me_sjo

This is a known deadlock issue with the TsWriter/EPG grabber. Try disabling grabbing on "Remote Control Look Up App".
