We will make the "hack" configurable from configuration.exe, since it seems quite a few users suffer from this issue. Mantis entry is here, it should be available in the next weekly build. Those not daring to install the next weekly build can replace the configuration.exe attached to this post (compatible with MP 1.0).

Edit: To make this clear, you have to set the highlighted setting using this configuration.exe (or configuration.exe from weekly builds after 1.0).

Edit: It seems I made a mistake when coding this configuration.exe. I accidentally used wrong case for setting, so use was ineffective. Use chemelli's updated version in stead.

Yep, looks like I have the same problem, with no WM_POWERBROADCAST 7 after the 18. I'll try the fix tonight. BTW seidelin, does your configuration.exe have the fix Flokel put in for removing the CD / DVD drives from the folders configuration for music, videos and pictures?

EDIT: no it doesn't. Any chance we could combine the two fixes?

Will report back after system resumes for WebEPG grabbing tonight.

Sure. My fix is already in SVN, but since flokels code is not committed/published yet, only he can make those changes. Or use "my" configuration.exe, to set the useS3Hack setting, and it will be remembered even though you can't see it when copying over flokels configuration.exe.

Thanks Seidelin. BTW, I found this on MSDN:

    PBT_APMRESUMESUSPEND
    7
    0x7

Operation is resuming from a low-power state. This message is sent after PBT_APMRESUMEAUTOMATIC if the resume is triggered by user input, such as pressing a key.

To me, this says you would only get the WM_POWERBROADCAST event id of 7 if you resumed by pressing a key. Would a PowerScheduler wake up event really generate this?

I can confirm that the Hack works for me, very good :)

One little thing though, when i woke it up this morning, it said it had lost connection to the tv server, but i could go and watch tv withoput any problem.

Hmm, now when i started it up, it was working, but i then closed MP, and then it crashed on the close. No big deal but still... -)

"7" should be sent as soon as the users presses a key, moves a mouse etc.
On our broken machines this does not happen. Therefore we have a workaround.

I think globaldonkey and I were getting at this message would not be sent if the machine was waking itself up ?? (ie. it wakes up to record TV and not that the user has carried out an action to wake up the machine) ??

Yeah that's it exactly. I would have thought a powerscheduler wakeup would not produce an event id of 7. The patch did not work for me. My system wakes up at 3am (per PS schedule), does the EPG grab all successfully, but when it goes to try to sleep again, it does not succeed. In the morning, I am greeted with a blank screen with a "hint" of the blue taskbar at the bottom. Sometimes, if I am patient and press the esc a couple of times, MP comes alive, and then it immediately goes to sleep, and I can wake it up again with the keyboard. Other times, MP has crashed, and as soon as I kill the MP process, the system goes to sleep again.

Something is going wrong with the wakeup's - it is not preventing the system from doing the EPG grab, but is preventing the system from going to sleep again.

Just came home, the HTPC came correctly out of suspend mode and was recording. MP itself though was completely black and not responding. An CTRL-F4 closed it - a restart of MP and we were back in business. I replaced the configuration.exe this morning and selected the option with the 'workaround'. Didn't seem to work though.... I will try to post some logs tomorrow.
