I am getting exactly the same symptoms (with MP 1.0) as globaldonkey - this morning at 3:00am a Windows Scheduler event resumed the PC to defrag the HDD and then grab the EPG. When I checked the PC at 7:00am it was still running and MediaPortal was hung with a black screen. I had to use Task Manager to kill MP and then the PC immediately went to Standby ...

I am using the modified "Configuration.exe", but that doesn't seem to help this issue?

I didn't have this issue at all with RC3.

I have enabled extensive logging and I am now doing some further testing to see if I can gather some useful logs .... :(

Just to clarify, I have edited the post with the updated configuration.exe to show the setting that needs to be set. Of course, there can be other standby issues than what this one solves.

Exactly the same here; this kind of behaviour was introduced here with the introduction of RC4. RC3 was fine. Logs didn't produce anything this morning because the machines was restarted after a CTRL-ALT-DEL...

I'm having similar problems in single-seat, clean installation of MP 1.0 final:

Manual wake up is working fine, but if I the system tries to wake up automatically for recording, the TV screen remains blank/black until I press mouse button. After that MP usually appears on the screen and it's working fine, but I got it hang too couple of times and after ending the process, the system went instantly to suspend!

I tried S3Hack too but it didn't make any difference. It seems that the wake up isn't somehow "complete", I wonder what the difference is for the manual wake up because it is working great.

Is there any test scenarios I could try & gather logs maybe?

Well, no logs yet... everything worked fine this morning, but the system didn''t come out of standby on itself because no recording was scheduled this morning.

    Hi,
same on my side, the hack didn't help, still have to press a key on my keyboard or hit a mouse button. Then everything goes on, black screen disappears and mp starts as it should :(

PS: Using an ASUS M2N-VM HDMI board.

ARE2, your logs are worthless. They show MP starting up and nothing more.

    Hi,

well... nearly supposed something like that :( Anyway, :D for taking your time to look at the logs :)

Nevertheless, I found out that using a batchScript that kills the MP process and launches the executable again, works for me as a dirty workaround. Furthermore I'm using it with the little prog.: "startOnWake" that I found by google'ing.

This executes my batch after return from Hibernate in every case and I can see now that my system resumes, gets the black Screen and wham  my batch starts, kills MP, so that I see my desktop and yes, finally MP starts up again and it works

Hope that helps someone somehow, anyway as long as there doesn't exist no other solution!

    Regards

Here are my logs from a crash a couple of days ago.

Just to repeat, the specific problem I have is that the system wakes to grab epg at 3am, does so successfully, goes into S3 standby, and then in the morning when I come out of S3 manually, MP has hung (blank screen, not responding), and as soon as I kill MP, the system suspends again.

The last thing the logs seem to show is the system going back into suspend immediately after the EPG grab.

As per other comments in this thread, standby / resume in this manner worked flawlessly in R2, (can't comment about R3 because I didn't upgrade to it) and broke in R4.

Exactly what happens here too, but instead of EPG grabbing, wakes up for scheduled recording and same story again..
