Dear all,

firts of all, i have to thank all the team mediaportal ! i found tha since some recent svn, mp is more and more stable, i get nearly no more crashes ! Great job.

Since a few weeks (at least RC4, i can't remember if the problem occured with RC3), i have an annoying problem while watching videos or Timeshifted TV.

While playing, MP radomly jumps forward or backward a few minutes/seconds.

It occurs about 1 or 2 times every 1 or two hours ....

Area: Media Portal Program / My Video Fullscreen / My TV timeshifted
MP Version: 0.2 RC 4 - CVS from a day last week
Skin: Blue Two
Windows Version: XP SP2
CPU Type: AMD 2500+ no overclock
Memory: 512 DDR400
Motherboard Chipset: Asrock VT4A Pro (VIA KT400A)
Video Card: Nvidia Geforce 4200 Ti
Video Card Driver: almost Latest Standard Detonator
Video Card Resolution: 1024*768
Video Render Type: VMR9
Video Codec Type & Version: Intervideo for non CSS (Hauppauge)
Audio Codec Type & Version: MPEG/AC3/DTS/LDPCM Audio Dec

TV Card 1: Hybrid / Hauppauge HVR 1300
TV Card 1 Type: hardware / DVB
TV Card 1 Driver: Latest official from hauppauge.fr (2.4)

Remote : Hauppauge silver 45 Buttons bundled with the board (not mce)
Remote Receiver : USB MCE Receiver
Add info about remote :
The usb receiver is controlled by HIP that translate remote commands into keystrokes

one week ago, i was using the remote with the ir receiver bundled with the remote and the board and the problem was already there.

I have a mp.log, i have to search a bit to find how to post it ... i will do it in a few minutes.

http://mp.pastebin.com/726335

here is what i have done during this session :
Start TV
switch to fullscreen
select the third channel by hitting the '3' key on the remote
watch TV for a while (let's say about 15 - 20 minutes)
suddenly, the TV jumps backward a few minutes (it was playing the show i have saw a few minutes before).

perhaps, you will be able to see the jump at the end af the log file.

Let me know !

Could you please disable the PowerScheduler plugin, try again and post that log again if it still happens?

Sorry for the time it takes me to respond, but since i use mp every day to watch tv, movie, listen to music, ... it is not easy to get a clean log file to show the pb.

i have some time this afternoon, i will sart a movie and wait for it to end without doing anything else. I think that you will be able to see in the log that i haven't done anything and that the play time isn't equal to the movie length ...

I have also noticed that the jump is in fact a "big jump" (up/down arrow).

I have installed latest svn and played this afternoon a video : no luck ! no jump has occured, the play time is exactly the movie length ....

let's say that the bug has been corrected in this svn !

i leave the post open for a few days. if the problem occurs again, i wil let you know.

Sorry guyz for this bad expression.

Anyway, the problem is still there ....

sometimes when watching video or tv mp still jumps forward or backward by its own.

the jump is a "big jump" like if i press up or down arrow on the keyboard.

I will give a new try to get a clean log showing the problem.

Regards,

I have got it !

In this log file, you will be able to see that the movie played at 13:22:52 lasts 01:18:43 (ends at 14:41:35).

i wasn't in front of the screen and there wasn't anybody in the house (i hope !). So i haven't touched anything during play time.

the fact is that the movie length is 01:27:08. so the time diffrence is 00:08:25.

As a reminder, the problems accurs also while watching recorded tv, timeshifted tv, and even one time while listening to music. It seems that mp does big jums by its own ...

Thanks for your help !

I had a similar problem once - and after days of testing and browsing these forums, I found out that it was the mouse!

My MediaPortal PC had a mouse with a very sensitive mouse wheel. This wheel sometimes just kind of "moved itself" a little bit, even without anyone touching the mouse. And using the mouse wheel while watching a video/recording in MediaPortal results in a "jump".

Since my HTPC is controlled via a remote control, it doesn't need a mouse - so disconnecting it resolved this problem.
So check if there is a mouse installed on your PC and if the wheel may be the cause.
Hope this helps!

I had a similar fault. I believe it may have been a problem with my wireless keyboard and mouse, as when I removed it the problem went away. I then switched to an alternate wireless keyboard and mouse and the problem has not re-occurred.
