    Hi,

I recently purchased a new DVB-s2 sat-card, and I started to test some HD channels. Seems that 1280x720 channels don't have problems to play, but I'm unable to see 1920x1088 channels, like ANIXE HD or Astra HD+ in Astra 19,2 E. All I get is the top left corner...

You can see the problem in the MP log:

MP is detecting 320x240 as the channel res, so it just displays top left 320x240 pixels...

I can't try any other h264 codec, as MP doesn't allow ffdshow to connect (again, why?!!!), and I'm unable to get MPC from SAF 3.47 connected either... Anyway, after seeing the log, it doesn't seem a codec related problem... does it?

    Thank you so much.

    bye!

Edit: MMmmm... I've tried now to use Divx h264 decoder... and it can't be connected either! Why can I only use CoreAVC for decoding h264 live TV? No problem with h264 mkv files inside MP, no problem either if I start timeshift using TV-Server console and render .ts file with Graphedit... I can connect MPC or Divx h264 filters with no problem... :(

Ok. Horborg has pointed me to a known bug that is causing some h264 decoders not to connect to tsreader output for h264 material.

Anyway, do you think this problem es codec especific, and has to do to CoreAVC? I remember something similar some time ago with CoreAVC, but that was solved, and this time we can see in the log that MP is detecting incorrect video res.

    bye!

Edit: Well... I managed to use another h264 decoder, Cyberlink Power DVD 8 exactly, and there's no problem with it... so it's codec related. I've seen also someone with same behaviour:

CoreCodec Community Forum • View topic - Problems with MediaPortal and CoreAVC

I hope it's solved once tsreader h264 handle behaviour it's fixed...

    bye!

Could this issue be the cause of MediaPortal ALLWAYS using CoreCodec for TV?
(SD and HD, eventhough MP is configured to use FFDshow for SD TV and CoreCodec for 264HD)

Different issue. TsReader / TV client doesn't allow currently ffdshow to be used with MPEG2 (SD) video as there have been previously issues with ffdshow and zapping between SD & HD channels.

Also setting up the codecs in config is not quaranteening the codec to be used for SD/HD. MP will only load those two prefered codecs into graph and then let directshow do decide what codec to use for video decoding. This selection will be done based on the filter merits and codec properties (and in addition to that TsReader refuses to connect to the ffdshow when the video output is MPEG2).

Having this problem also with CoreAVC and the (new) Ned1 2 3 channels in HD in the Netherlands. No problem with my old PowerDVD 7, HD codec.

I assume your cable provider is Ziggo.

    As I wrote above:

"Disable interlacing in the CoreCodec control panel.
I have the same problem if I enable deinterlacing."

Works fine for me here at Ziggo.
(What does not work fine is changing HD -> SD -> HD. This is still buggy)

I will try that Luke and report back later! Cable provider is Caiway by the way.

Problem fixed indeed with deinterlacing disabled. The performance of the powerDVD 7 HD codec in HD TV is a lot better on my machine than the coreAVC codec.
