MP minimizes to tray randomly (1 Viewer)

I've got some sort of issue where MP minimizes to the tray while running. I'll watch something at night and when I wake up the next morning, MP is "gone" and I just see the desktop on the screen. For a long time I've believed that MP has been crashing, but today I decided to investigate a little further and ran taskmgr.exe to see what was running, and lo and behold, there was MediaPortal.exe!

As soon as I selected the MediaPortal.exe process in the process manager, a small MP icon showed up in the tray! I could then choose to "restore" MP and it was back like usual.

Now: I don't like this. How can I prevent this from happening? Is there a shortcut from inside MP to minimize it?

I have of course checked both settings "Minimize to tray on GUI exit" and "Minimize to tray on startup" and they are both unchecked.

Thankful for any help to prevent MP from minimizing on me!

Hi,

I've never seen this behaviour, and here it runs for more than several days. Of course that's not very helpful to you. I know you can configure MP to "minimize to tray" on exit. It's in Setup, under General. See if you have this configured. Either way, that options shouldn't just automagically minimize MP to the tray...only when the user tries to exit MP.

If you can't solve it, please fill in the support template (or use the support-tool). Also include the mediaportal.log from after the problem occurred. Maybe the logfile can shed some light on why this is happening.

I am also having something kind of like this happening. If I am in windows and I start MP, It will start and then close as soon as it opens. Then, if I click the icon a second time, it will start and run fine. Its just a small glitch, but I would like to figure it out also

Disable "Minimize to tray on start up" in the General section in Configuration.exe

...as I said in my initial post, both settings "Minimize to tray on GUI exit" and "Minimize to tray on startup" are un-checked.

This just happened again this morning, so here are my support template and MediaPortal.log information for anybody out there who can take a look at this.

To review: MediaPortal.exe is still running if I check task manager. However, I can't get it back from its minimized state, since the taskbar is hidden (I've set it to hide when MP starts) so I can't see the tray or if there is an icon there.

I think mPod was talking to brsexton, not to you. Nobody is quite sure what is causing your problem, as it seems fairly unique. Could it be a program running in the background interferring?

Im seeing a similar problem. As soon as I go into MyTV, Mediaportal minimizes to the tray. "Minimize to tray on GUI exit" and "Minimize to tray on startup" are un-checked in my setup. I tried different codecs with no change, and even swapped my video card with another without any luck. However if I disable "Exclusive Directx", then everything works perfectly, with the exception of bad tearing. Any ideas? This all started with RC2 all prior releases never showed this problem.

Ah, I also have Exclusive DirectX enabled. And for me this also started with RC2.

I don't know why not more of use are seeing this though.

I can have MP running for days on end without this happening, and then all of a sudden.

I've got a ATI Remote Wonder II; although I find it hard to see why that would matter?

This sounds more and more like something for the devs to look into.

I'm pretty sure that this has to do with "Minimize to tray". I also have similiar issues since this got implemented in one of the CVS between RC1 and RC2.

The minimize problem I was having appears to have been fixed in lastnights CVS. So far no minimizes.
