MP not exiting in Vista RC2 (1 Viewer)

For the most part MP seems to behave pretty well with Vista 32.
The only issue I have is that it seems to stall when I use my remote to issue the Exit command.
It freezes until I press any button on the keyboard or move the mouse. It's as if it's waiting for another
trigger. Although it will no longer accept input from the remote.
The same exact issue happens when I tell it to shutdown the computer. It will freeze until I hit any key on the keyboard or move the mouse.
Once that happens MP closes and the computer shuts down like normal.

The remote is a USB-UIRT with the latest Vista 32 drivers.

    Hi Mark,

I have observed a similar problem with RC2 on XP, and I am trying to determine the cause. Are you using the IR Server Suite by and-81?

I am also having the same problem as markrb, but I am using Windows XP Pro SP2. I have the hauppauge 45 button remote (came with the WinTV PVR 150). I have tried writing batch files for the colored buttons on this remote (done by editing the irremote.ini file). My thought was trying to force Windows to launch a dummy batch file and hence create the same little shake of the mouse or touch of the keyboard that markrb and I are having to do. However, this didn't work.

Let me know if ya'll have any ideas.

    Hi rageman84,

I have the same question for you, too - are you using the IR Server Suite plugin developed by "and-81"?

I have been trying to isolate the cause of this issue and my suspicion is something in the IR Server Suite.

    Hey Taipan,

I did a clean install of MediaPortal V1.0 RC2 and I haven't installed any plugins. I am using the Hauppuage IR Remote control version 2.56 driver (date: August 29, 2007) found here.

So no, I have not been using the IR Server Suite plugin. Later on tonight I'll look into it and probably download and install it to see if it helps.

I have only been using the MediaPortal Configuration tool to set up the Hauppuage remote that I have.

hope some of this helps and thanks for your quick response.

There is no need to install the IR Server Suite plugin - the fact that you get the same problem as me and you are NOT using the IR Server Suite eliminates it as a possible cause.

So, it seems that this issue is within MediaPortal itself and the way that MediaPortal handles the remote control commands.

Hmm... I installed MediaPortal about half a year ago or something and everything worked smoothly with the WinTV remote. Did this latest release come out 7/18/08 like the article here suggests?

Let me know if you want me to test anything new out. I'll be playing around with the irremote.ini file more tonight and see if I can get a work-around or something.

    Thanks for your time.

What I used is the built in USB-UIRT remote settings with my Harmony 880 remote set to emulate a MCE remote.
I used the "Learn commands" from the USB-UIRT remote section and nothing external to that.

This also happened on a previous SVN, but I can't remember which one.

I can confirm the same bug since MP 1.0.0.0 RC1 (with and without any SVN) on WinXP SP2.
    I use IR-Trans as remote!
