MP on a MCE 2005 (1 Viewer)

Hi....

I will very much like to install the MP on my XP MCE

But will it be possible to use my MCE remote/keyboard, to the Media Portal?

I ask because, if I for example use the startbutton on the remote, then will ZP Media Center start up, or?
But I will only have my remotes to control Media Portal.

Is it possible?

Yes, MP will disable MCE's services on startup. You can get a program to start up MP with the green button instead of MCE but it wont work if the mce services are active. So youll have to make a choice if you want that button to start MP or MCE.

I'm from Denmark and my english is'nt so good.

But if I undestand you correctly, then will it be possible to launch MP alone?

I will not have anything to do with the MCE services, I will only use MP to all my movies, music and television...... And still could use my MCE remote and keyboard?

The only reason that I planning to use the MCE to launch MP on, is because I don't have a english XP version (only danish) and I can't install the rollup to the MCE remotes on a danish XP.

Hi,

- yes, you can run MP on MCE.
- yes, you can use your MCE remote.
- not sure about the keyboard, normal functions surely work, but special keys may not work.

How do I turn the MCE off, so MP is the only Media system, thats respond on the remote?

Hi,

afaik does MP everything do for you (shutting down MCE services). You just have to activate the MCE remote in Setup->Remotes->MCE.

I am seriously thinking of closing down this general section.

ive posted for help in general and am sorry if thats not right

i took this as a general "i need help to setup" bit, and support for a fundemental problem ie "mediaportal dont start, xxx error"
