Dman,
I also have a topic open on the testing forum for RC2 here with all my logs. I also sent you a definition using graph edit for my card. I used the instructions on the H/W card support sticky.
I think my problem is that this card is basically a PVR-250, but it is an OEM pull from older MCE machines. The internal id on the card may differ from a regular pvr-250, even though I use the normal drivers.
No, i didn't uninstall RC2 first. But, now, when I did, it seems to be working ok. Scanning the channels right now. I'll get back if I encounter any further issues.
OK, here is the the update of what I did and the results acheived after reading all your sugesstions. I'm listing all the events (FYI especially for testing GURUS) knowing the fact that some may be irrelevant to MP
ACTION: Upgraded MCE2005 to Rollup2 with all required versions of .NET (1.1, SP1 & 2.0) and updated Twinhan DVB-S driver to BDA 1.2.3.5 for MCE2005. Also installed MP 2.0 RC3
REACTION: (1) Settings Wizard did not detect capture card automatically. Therefore, tried to "add" capture card manually and get error message "No video capture card(s) were found, you won't be able to configure a capture card". I don't know how should I proceed from here.
(2) Also noticed that MyTheatre V3.33.8 would freez at startup while initilizing capture card and thus requiring to reboot computer.
(3) Also observed a lots of RED in the event viewer - Application - Event ID 4 "TV tuner malfunction. (0x80070057) DTV-DVBS 878 Digital Tuner Filter". Could not find any fix to this anywhere at Microsoft technical support (MSDN) or with search in google
Wait...Wait....Wait guys before you all start pouring with your comments, I would like to share a MAGIC that just happened...
In my earlier post I mentioned that I upgraded BDA driver to 1.2.3.5 for MCE2005 (which is not digitally signed my Microsoft). I tried to use the driver 1.2.3.5 that is digitally signed by Microsoft for WinXP and BINGO! the MP setup wizard automatically detects Twinhan DVB-S capture card and proceeds further.
However, it does not list US satellites such as Ecostar3, Ecostar7, Ecostar9 etc. in the choices to select satellites for LNB in DVB Satellite Setup.
Also noticed that MP setup wizard will not detect Twinhan DVB-S capture card if DVB TV tuner driver (in device manager) is also updated to BDA V1.2.3.5 (WinXP - digitally signed version) along with capture card.
Have a look at the tpl's in the TuningParameters directory.
There you will find the structure to follow.
i.e.
Code:
satname=EchoStar 3 & Rainbow 1 at 61.5°W
12224,V,21500
12224 being the frequency from the first column.
V = Vertical or R for Right. So you would use H for L from the first column.
215000 being the symbol rate from the 6th column.
Ignore feed rows which are colour coded grey.
Feel free to send me the TPL file(s) for inclusion in the build.
I don't understand where and how should I make use of information from lyngsat?
Please explain what should I choose in "Please specify details for LNB1 - DiSeqC - LNB Select - Band" when I get to the screen "TV Setup - DVB Satellite" from Settings - Setup Wizard.
Further, when I get to the next screen of "TV Setup - DVB Satellite" which transponder should I choose for "LNB1" from the "Select Transponder" list of 18 satellites? (This list does not include any of the Dish Network Satellites such as Ecostar3, Ecostar7 etc.)
Made a test TPL file with frequencies I'm currently interested in. However, after I secect EchoStar 3 transponder in "TV Setup - DVB Satellites" and click next, MP freezes requiring to reboot.
