Hello all,
I'm trying to install MediaPortal 1.5 to my little home server as a TV tuner server. I'm running into some problems to get the server up and running and I believe it might be caused by the windows version i'm using.
Here's my humble setup:
IBM T43 (Intel 2Ghz / 2GB RAM / 60GB HD)
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 x86 (cannot install x64 on that box due to CPU limitation)
DIAMOND ATI Theater™ HD 750 USB TV Tuner
So the drivers for the tuner install correctly and I installed the DBA files found here. I installed SQL 2005 and Desktop experience already (so WMP 11) and are known to be functional.
I start the setup as standalone server and after installing all necessary files, it completes (I do get a long socket error message but that disappears after a reboot). However, when I run the TV config for the first time, the process launches, uses 90% of the machine resources but nothing happens....
So i'm thinking it might be the DBA files which are made for 2008 R2 which is x64 and based on win7 because all the rest seems to be functional. I cannot find any version of the DBA files for a 2008 x86 distribution (based on Vista) to confirm my sayings... Would anyone know where to find that or have anything else to propose?
Thanks,
I've uninstalled everything for now (MP, SQL, DBA, drivers, etc) and forgot to save the logs.... sorry
Also, this hardware setup is to recycle an old laptop and runs other services for my LAN (DNS, DHCP, AD, Gateway, radius, etc) so im not investing time or money to upgrade anything just to run MP!
