    Hi there,

I have an issue with playing files. They just don't start at the beginning. No matter if they are new or not. If I played them and stop and replay the episode, asks me to start where I stopped or from the beginning. If I choose "from beginning" MP plays from beginning.

    How do I fix that?

    Hi there,

How to get a solution 101:

    1. Explain a problem and hope that it is known, so that without ability to examine the debug-logs it is immediatly clear what went wrong and a solution can be provided -- Success rate 5%
    2. Explain a problem by providing a step-by-step explanation on what you did, and where it goes wrong. And provide debug-enabled log files on MediaPortal, MP-TVSeries and any relevant plugin that might cross-interfere (InfoService, Fanart Handler, etc). This way those log files can be studied to see why it works for majority of users, but why it fails for you. -- Success rate 95%

So due to lack of much information, the only answers for #1 are:

    • Codec issues
    • Bad configuration
    • Conflicting plugins
    • Corrupted files/database
    • Something else

For #2, re-run your problem and provide debug-enabled log files (remember to enable debug mode in MediaPortal config *AND* MP-TVSeries config). They 'might' give insights into what exactly is going wrong. Even to the point where an easy answer can be given to solve it. Unfortunatly it is not always that easy, but at least then you can be given other instructions to try something else.

The more you try yourself, the faster it will be resolved. For example MP-TVSeries is a plugin that relies on MediaPortal for the actual playback. So verify that it is in no way MP-TVSeries related by playing the same mediafile in MediaPortal's MyVideos. If that fails, then play it in Windows Media Player to see if it is a codec or splitter issue. Debugging that actually goes a lot easier in MPC-HC, because it has internal filters and ability to rely on DirectShow only by disabling all the internal filters and splitters.

    :D
