I am having an issue playing "Movie Clips" .mpeg/.mpg files when launching them through MP-TVSeries. I am not exactly sure why it is happening but when I am launching them through "My Videos" page in MediaPortal they open up no problem.

I really don't want to have to covert all the files I have but I just might have to. If you need further information to help let me know. Thanks to those that can help!

Hi,

Same problem here. I believe the problem is a hidden flag in the MediaPortal.xml configuration file that specifies that MPEG files should use the TSStreamBufferPlayer instead of the regular player (used by My Videos). I think the flag was put in place to improve performance w/ TVServer which streams MPEG data. I don't use TVServer so changing the flag doesn't affect me.

To fix, do the following:

Step 1: Close down Media Portal.

Step 2: In ..\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MediaPortal.xml

Change the entry for the useTsFileSourceForMpegs flag to be "no". See below

<entry name="useTsFileSourceForMpegs">no</entry>

Step 3: Restart Portal

Good Luck.

Thanks for the response. I am at work now but will check it out when I get home and post my findings. Good call though makes perfect sense to me.

Is there a way we can get this flag set to "no" by default, at least for single seat installs?

I had this problem for a while before I found this thread...

Has anyone solved this MPG issue ? I don't have that parameter in my mediaportal.xml file either.
