MediaPortal will not even start anymore. For quite some time, every once in awhile when starting MP it would crash and I would get the "Report to Microsoft" window. Usually after trying again, it would restart.

Then, as it was starting, it would get to the initialization, then quit.

But now it will not even start at all. I tried to use the Debug-Mode option to start it in the basic setting. After selecting the "Report a Bug to Team MedaPortal" option, It doesn't do anything at all. It just brings up the Watchdog screen.

I disabled the InfoService plugin, and that did not help.

BTW, I haven't changed anything (no files added or deleted), except Windows updates, etc.

Thanks!!

    Hi there :)

    The error in your log:
2011-11-19 15:39:38.609375 [Warn.][MPMain(1)]: Main: MediaPortal is already running

So somehow MP did not close correctly.
Open Windows Task Manager (control-shift-escape) go to processes and select MP then end-process.
    Try to start it again.

    Thanks for the reply.

I did that and tried to restart MePo and it gets to the "Starting Plugins" screen then it just stops. I mean, the splash screen just disappears and the desktop is visible again. It never even gives Watchword a chance to run!

So I tried to recreate the logs manually (Team MediaPortal | MediaPortal | MediaPortal Debug Mode | Export all currently present logs)

    I attached these files.

Ok. I tried some things. I disabled all plugins and MePo started. So, I enabled them one at a time until I found the culprit. It apparently is the Weather Module in the InfoService plugin!

So, I wonder if some of the other problems others are having with MePo freezing on startup, etc might be because of this now-not-working weather plugin.

I want to download the update, but I am using XFactor skin, so I need to wait until an updated skin file is available.

Anyway, I hope others with problems read this; and I hope it helps. After I disabled the weather inside the Info Service pligin, all is working okay (of course, except the weather plugin itself).

It was odd, though, because when I disabled the weather plugin from inside MePo, but kept it enabled from within the InfoService plugin, it didn't help--MePo still crashed on start, or did not start at all.

I hopes this helps someone. :D
