When using the above combination of codecs (ie SAF 5), and attempting to play H.264 material that is not DXVA compatible (eg profile 5.1 with more than 5 ref frames), MP will not fallback to ffdshow to play the video.

Yep, that new core.dll from Manfred has definitely fixed it!
