Sorry for not getting back to everyone. This plug will require a recompile to work with RC3, I have done this but havn't been able to test it because i am having issues with my Dev machine.

Hopefully by the end of next week i will et something out, it appears that only minor things have changed in MP source so not too much will be broken.

New release that supports MP 0.2 RC3.

No added functionality but works with RC3. :wink:

There are some known issues with playing recorded programs on the Xbox that have certain foreign characters in the file name, this is a XBMC issue and hopefully it is resolved in the current freeze.

Thumbs up for this great creation!

I'm running MP 0.2 RC3 and your latest script for xbmc (0.6c).

I've got both running but when I try to watch a recording on my xbox through your script it just doesn't start. I converted the recording with Media Portal to both MPEG-2 and WMV but no luck with both. I also tried different programs with different names and different lenghts.

Hi lol,

I believe that you are experiencing the known issue with playing recordings with special characters.

When you are changing the name of the file are you doing this in both the database and the file itself. All file names are read from MP's database.

Also, I have not tested with recent builds of XBMC as I am awaiting the 2.0 release as a base for the next version so this may be a problem as well. I think I am running a build from Aug-Sep 05.

You can try and browse to the share from My Videos and make sure it plays from there, however in my experience wiht this issue it will only fail when called within a python script and not when you browse manually.

Streaming to xbox

Thanks for the effort here this is great, Is anyone working on the full media center extender bits like watching live tv and changing channels from the xbox. Of am i dreaming here. If these options were available this would top all.

problems with script

Hey guys, this script looks great. However, I can not get it to work. I have the plugin set up correctly on my media portal software. Have it all configured and set up on the xbox. When I run the script, I can see the files that have been recorded and compressed, but when I select any of them, they do not play back. I also tried to get the tv guide going, but it flashes something really quick and goes away.

I went into my videos on my xbox, and can access the files and play back from there, so I know everything is shared out and should be working fine.

I am using rc4 - latest release - does this script work on rc4?

What's the future plans for this plugin? Havn't tried it myself yet but it sounds great!

No real plans at the moment, hoping to do a refresh after MP 0.2 Final and XBMC 2.0 final are released.

Beyond that I am hoping that someone will integrate live TV streaming into the TVEngine which I can then expand on to the xbox.

Main things holding things up are
- stable release of MP so that devs introduce new features again.
- streaming of Live TV in Mpeg
- MP recording to DVR_MS
- language encoding issues with python in XBMC
