I use DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 to copy DVDs to the Data HDD before I play them, for more reliable playback.
In Tools > Settings... > ISO Read Mode, [x] Create MDS File is ticked.
DVD Decrypter issues the following warning when you try to disable MDS file generation:

Please Note:

This setting should be left enabled if you intend on creating 'double layer' backups via the 'ISO Read' -> 'ISO Write' method.

If you disable it and your double layer backups don't work, don't come crying to me!

The MDS file also allows DAEMON Tools/Alcohol 120% to more closely emulate the original disc.

Are you sure you want to disable it?

It sounds like .MDS files are pretty important.

How do I prevent them from being displayed in List View? Currently all my movies are shown twice, once for the .ISO, once for the .MDS.

I have tried removing file association from Explorer, and .mds is not in the list of Video Extensions (MP Config : Videos > Video Extensions)

Does MP use MDS files at all? I suppose I could just delete them and not generate them in future, but if they are needed for correct playback, I have to keep them.

Thanks for taking the time to read this! :D
