If there a re really short spikes in the GPU usage you wont be able to see those in any statistics. In any case completely off topic for this thread.

Well I can only really go by the statistics and if they're not showing high GPU usage it seems a leap to assume that's the problem.

Anyway, if the problem of the render time shooting up when MP lost focus (not even scrolling in the browser) isn't anything to do with dshowhelper, what is it to do with?

Probably with the fact that you are running on a dual monitor setup.

Which MP supposedly supports by allowing the user to set which screen it runs on.

As I explained in post 1404 https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...ty-development-81148/index141.html#post820880 MPC-HC doesn't appear to have any problems in dual-screen and considering that dshowhelperv88 makes dual-screen work a lot better compared to the default dshowhelper, surely this points to an issue with dshowhelper no?

Doveman, if MPC-HC works so much better, please use that instead (or WMC, XMBC, nPVR etc - something that may better suit your needs & system) - then we wouldn't have to keep reading about the same issues with your system over and over again......

I use MP because it works well on my HTPC and does what I need - if it didn't I'd look for alternatives (as I did before I settled on MP several years ago - and MP is much better now than it was back then :))

Is that the new official attitude then? "If there's something you think could be improved, go and use something else". Perhaps you should get the "Contribute" page MEDIAPORTAL - Contribute: Get Involved rewritten then, as that suggests that bugreports, improvement ideas and other contributions are welcomed.

No, there isn't anything else I'm aware of at the moment that suits my needs as well as Mediaportal so I'm trying to help make it even better. Terribly sorry if having to read my suggestions and requests bothers you so much.

The views I expressed are my own, and do not represent the views of any other person or organisation.

There is a difference between bugreports, contributions and nagging (repeatedly asking about the same issues when explanations and help have already been given).

MP1 isn't perfect (nothing is), but development of it is dependant on the goodwill and free time of all those who contribute to it, so individuals tend to work on whatever issues/bugs/new features they are interested in and have the ability to contribute to.

Get involved doesn't only mean to complain about issues and suggest new features and let others do the work :)
Maybe you can open a new thread^^ You noticed that MP-HC works better than MP and that it could be a problem with dshowhelper.dll and the focus of Mp isn't to be an App on a normal desktop PC...
So if you want to get this fixed you could investigate this by your self and try to fix it and provide some code ;) I'm sure nobody will kill you if you present not the best code but you've found a solution where a dev can get in and make a nice fix :)

In this project no dev is forced to write some code or work on a specific area, they work on the topics they like :) So stop complaining that a dev doesn't fix all your problems and get active by yourself^^

    Edit:

I've just reported a couple of different circumstances/occasions when the problem has manifested and pointed out that it doesn't appear to be a Windows fault as it doesn't seem to affect other software. If you think that's nagging I suggest you need to chill.

I'm well aware of how MP is developed. I'm just providing reports and logs in case anyone feels inclined to look into it.

I'm sorry you characterise my reporting issues as "complaining". I'm sorry I'm not a coder. Do you think only those who can code should post bugreports and suggestions?

I could start a new thread, but as the issue appears to be with dshowhelper and v84 greatly improved things it seemed reasonable to keep my reports here, where they're more likely to be seen by anyone who decides to work on dshowhelper.

And stop accusing me of trying to force anyone to do anything or complaining that a dev doesn't fix all my problems. As I said, I've just provided details of when the problem manifested on a couple of occasions.

PS: v86 also stop, Currently testing v85 (no problem for instance but it's a too short test)
