Thanks for the info Owlsroost... What are this drivers intended for?

Getting a bit off-topic, but the latest nVidia drivers (260.xx onwards) seem to have stuttering/pausing problems with video playback on some cards/systems. Someone on the nVidia forums suggested that 263.06 Tesla drivers don't have the problems, so I tried them on my system and they fixed the long pauses I was getting sometimes.

    Tony

Could you point me the thread inside nVidia forums please? I don't find it...

@all... could you please add codec to your specs? specially those that watch hdtv 1080i... :) I'm currently using Cyberlink PowerDVD 10 ones (extracted from SAF 5.00).

Ok... Tried v65 just in case... but as I said, my main problem now is that for some livetv HD channels refreshrate goes down to 30 hz and up againt to 50 hz (some spikes here and there in red line) that causes "stutter-like" effect, and dshowhelper has nothing to do with this.

@Jelmo, I've tried tesla 263.05 driver... same behaviour. I would say worse in my case, so I have now this refresh-rate inestability on some more channels than before. I'll role back to an old nvidia driver, that I don't remember to have seen this, and if I've got same problem, then I'll have to search a bit more what's my problem... :( If anyone (tourettes... :p ) could help me identify what could be the cause of this refresh-rate up and downs... ¿?

    Thanks all.

Tourettes discovered that the MS-DTV decoder can change the frame rate if it thinks there is a performance problem - do you use this ?

When you get the problem does it go away if you pause TV for a second or two (so that more data is buffered) ?

Nop. I use Cyberlink PowerDVD 10 (extracted from SAF 5.00). I'll try pausing to see what happens. Thanks for the tip. Is there any way to use this codec in WinVista?

Ah! ok!. I saw this. Sadly, my problem doesn't dissapear with Tesla drivers. I'll keep on testing different configs.

Sorry again for the offtopic. It's turning a bit difficult to me to find forums/posts/places to discuss about general hdtv (1080i) performance.

    bye!

EDIT: Ah! Forgot to say that v65 is performing very well in all my tests. :) No heavy stuttering after some secons in SD channels, as with v58-v60, and quite flat lines in stats. :)

Thanks for the feedback - can you try the attached version v0066 please ?

This version sets up the DWM in a different mode to the earlier versions.

There still seems to be a problem sometimes when playing the first file after a refresh rate change (it's more likely to have frame drops/stutters) - I'm not sure this can be fixed in the dshowhelper.....

    Tony

Note: If you are using the MP AudioRenderer you must use the modified version from this post - https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/707555-post675.html - otherwise MP will crash...

    hi Tony

i've done a quick test with the v65 , all goes perfect: sd and HD pal tv go perfect, the tree lines perfectly flat, same with mkv , m2ts 24p and 60i ......

as you reported, after a refresh change from tv 50hz to 24 hz m2ts makes all the MP unusable.... at my side...

    explain well

    tv 50 i pal ok

    start m2ts 24p ---> refresh go to 24hz

    stop...

MP gui looks like slowmotion (osd displays just 25 fps)

start pal tv 50i freq was changed to 50hz, but all was stuttering.... fps went from 0 to max 25 and the treee lines are really spiked......

what i've noticed is the memory consumption of Mp is almost twice when all goes stutter..... so i'm not sure what is happening, unfortunately i could't get the logs (sorry but wife was watching tv :) ).....

i'm going to try v66 and i'll collect the logs...... as soon as possible.

    thank you again tony :)
