I've made some tests. Here the results:

    - V60/59: after a couple of minutes of livetv PAL SD begins to stutter eavily
    - V56: good but gives some stutter/artifacts problems on HDTV (Sky Sport HD)
    - V55: the best here, at least with TV

AW: MP1 EVR Presenter/dshowhelper community development

My results are same as robyf's:

    - V60/59: after a couple of minutes of livetv PAL SD and HD begins to stutter eavily (sometimes 5 min, 15 min, 30 min)

Switched to v55 and now happy for a couple of days. Really rarely stutering @moment few seconds in 2 hours and only on live tv.

Maybe it depends from the codec? I'm using microsoft codec.

    Hi Owlsroot,

I've tried v57 - v60 on my GT220 and had no problems with playback until I Pause playback or use skip steps. Not everytime, but more often then not. Typically when I tried to catch some logs in debug mode it wouldn't do it.

After pausing or using skip steps it will be like the file has been reduced to 15fps but played at 25fps. Looks like a dodgy internet rip! I've tried several different types, live TV, HD/SD XVID, DVD(MPEG2) all have the same problem. Only fully stopping and restarting playback seems to clear it.

Also on live SD TV sometimes playback will jitter and the sound will repeat the same few ms for a second. Sounds like a sped up woodpecker. It recovers itself and only last for less than a second.

Reverted back to v37 for now.

PS MS Codecs for TV, FFDShow for everything else.

    Hello everyone,
I just set up my new HTPC (see specs for more details) to use MP 1.1.2 as media center but I am having tearing issues playing any type of content (I am mainly interested on MKV and 24p [23,976FPS] video).
I tried all the new version of this modified DLL (from 55 to 60 and gave a chance to 37 and 45 too) to figure out the solution but there is none because I always get tearing issues (some times a lot, some times less).
So I did not give up and since I use MPC HC on my personal PC, I give it a try on the HTPC too to check if it is was going to work well the way it did on my PC connected to my TV.
And here is the surprise: I had the same issues but I was able to solve every tearing problem setting the "Alternative VSync" on the program. In fact all the 24p material works great now.
So, I am asking you if there is a way to implement the "Alternative VSync", that MPC HC uses, directly on MP. Or am I missing something and I already can have it?

A little note about my setting. I use a HD5570 video card connected on my TV via HDMI and of course setting 24Hz for 24p content. The video codec is the latest DXVA MPC video decoder (got from the MP guide).

Hope you can help me and thank you for your work :)

    Hi and welcome,

Are you sure you have AERO enabled? Do you use EVR or VMR9 as renderer? Do you use the Dynamic refreshrate changer? I own a 5xxx and owned a 3xxx card. Both worked fine with 24/24 fps/hz. I get the feeling its ATI driver related or AERO.
In ATI ccc, can you disable all video postprosessings if enabled. Set DeInterlacing to minimum. And install the latest ATI drivers ofcourse.
In addition, did you try the 1080p24 setting outside MP. First time you must click yes, after that windows remembers it. Do this for each refreshrate/resolution.

If the problem stays, best thing is to create a new thread the right forumsection and present the problem there...

I turned off Aero manually :)D) to improve the system performance... Guess I have to turn it back on and give it a try.
I hate postprocessing and so everything in ATI-AMD driver is disabled but deinterlacing is on, I will try to turn it down too.
I installed the system yesterday, I have the latest video drivers (Catalyst 11.1).
Ans yes, I tried to change the refresh rate ouside MP first but I had same issues no matter what content I was watching.
About the "Alternative VSync" for example on my PC (with a HD4850) it just gave tearing issues and the normal one worked great.

I will try with Aero on and setting the deinterlacing filter to minimum. Hope it works.

Thank you for the tips :)

Maybe. I also used with v60 the microsoft codec für sd. With v55 I also switched back to powerdvd. But I think I tested also powerdvd with v60 and had the same problem.

The aero thing is probably it. W7 depends on aero for vsync and stuff. Just an observation: why turn aero off for performance.... You've got 3.2 fracking gigahertz going wild!!! :)

About the deinterlacing. you will only (probably) make use of this while watching HDTV and it doesnt affect normal AVI/MKV files. These are 99.9% progressive.

Hope this fixes it for your. Ill stop poluting the thread. :) Sorry guys.
