Hi. I am having trouble playing videos with mpeg audio and Mp3s on my HTPC which is connected to my Sony amp over an SPDIF connection.

Movies with AC3 audio work fine, but I can't seem to get mp3 audio going. I have tried the AC3 filter, ffdshow filter, Dscaler audio codec, and the MPA codec with no luck, I just don't know what setting to do to make it work.

I am sure it is something simple, can someone please help shed some light on this.

I have done that for the MPA decoder with no luck.

I selected SPDIF for both AC3 and DTS and for the format I have tried 24bit, 32 bit and IEEE float with the same results. That's why I am confused, to me it seems I have set it up right but obviously I haven't.

Do you using the 'BASS engine' and 'Default Sound Device' under General Settings for Music?

If it doesnt work now, I cant help you.

    Sorry.

I use the Default Direct Sound Device in all sections (elevision, Music, Videos). I do not have the Bass engine enabled, but that's just under the music setting though.

I just tried the BASS player and I get the same issue, no sound.

Well I hope this is a permenant fix! It looks like it wasn't a codec/MP issue after all.

I went through ALL my settings again and then finally went to my Realtek Soundcard properties, for some reason it was defaulted to output SPDIF at 196Khz. I set this to 96 and now mp3s work fine!

Hope this helps someone else with this issue.
