As long as progress is being made, I am happy. Biggest concerns I have are with how it deals with the music database (that unknown artist thing) and getting things like genre working. All the rest is icing, no hurry. Having a list of selected songs would be helpful also (ok, so that's number 3), and I was wondering if this makes that easier to implement or has no effects.

Otherwise I consider this plugin functional and am using it daily, again, great work.

If I want to control other devices (TV, surround amp), would it be possible to integrate that into this application? Is it better to control directly via PDA IR diode, or through the HTPC/MP/Girder and som IR transmitter?

looking good

Mr S.

Well good to see you've made so much progress. I just haven't had the time to look at any code for a long time... but this has given me the itch again... just need to pry the laptop for the clutches of my other half.

Anyway... I noticed that the ContextMenu of the Treeview (and the Treeview for that matter) are still PPC standard controls... nothing wrong with that I hear you say, eventually it would be nice to go all skins like the listcontrols in MP.

I was thinking abou the contextmenu and how it could be made to go to a nice skin 'popup' instead of the actual contextmenu control, but keep the little red ring. (I actually like it)

I found this on and MSDN forum which might be just the ticket, should enable you to override the baseclass and display a differnt menu ( skin based)
http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/04/12/NETCompactFramework/#S3

Just a thought...

there's nothing wrong with that is there?
No, I know, I've been thinking about this too.. and I really want this to happen, but for now it will have to do..

I'm going to try for a sleek list feature in the playlist functionality, my programming skills are slowly improving... so bear with me..

If I remeber correctly, you had some code to get images from MP did you? I'm still interested in this..

Opps forgot

The Server code worked fine, but the client is real slow for all image icons in the TV database need to think of something clever to do here (also never figured out how to put in a default image for the Icons that aren't there. System.IO.Exists doesn't work as MP always returns true.

Now I've got the bug again... all be it my coding has taken a dive back to nill. I was thinking of trying to build a custom skin based listbox. (Nothing link taking on somehting way to advance as a challange !!)

BTW. Upgraded the client in VS2005 to Net2.0 CF and added Hardware buttons for the Volume works like a charm, but only 4 buttons are available in the HardwareButton class. The settings page could be used to define which hardware button mapping people want to use for them though.

I have been following the development of this application with great interest and I am keen to try it out. My only MediaPortal display at present is a DLP front projector, and it is cumbersome to fire it up if I only want to play music or listen to the radio...

    However, I don't yet own a suitable PPC / PDA ..... :(

I would appreciate some advice or recommendations on the least expensive PPCs available that would be suitable to run just this application - I intend to use it as a dedicated MP "intelligent remote control".
