Re: AW: MPDisplay2 - MP Secondary Display

Hi Neo2angel,

where are you downloading the files from?
And no - the dll MPTouch is old. Now the Plugins name is MPDisplay2.dll
I posted the link above where you can download from. Or go to the link in my signature. In Download Section under actual Plugin you will find the actual release.

Or easier - from HERE

Greets,
Wondermusic

but if you look at the file that you download ... (MPDisplay2.zip) within *. dll there is no ... so I say there must be some mistake (and me and down 3 or 4 times)

    I don’t know where you downloading from... The Link I gave you 3 posts ago is a mpe1- file no zip- file.
    Don’t take the files from the Repository if you are logged in on our site.
    Use the link above called “HERE”. When I’m clicking on this one, Firefox want’s to download a mpe1- file…

    Cheers,

    Hi technick,

    may be you are right :)

    But hasengrube told several post's before, that these are just the skin files (without dll- file). The Plugin itself is stored under the adress I have posted (mpe- Installer file with dll).
    So - I don't know where the problem is? :confused:

    Ok, he perhaps don't understand that he need to install the official plugin first, and only after, unzip the skin.

    Hi Wondermusic and sa_ddam213

    I just wanted to say that his plugin is looking really good.

    I have had a couple of problems which I thought I would report:

    1) during installation of the plugin, the MPEI programme prompted for me to click "Next" after copying the files, but when I did it asked "are you sure you want to cancel installation of MP Display2" - Yes or No. If you select "No" then the message just comes back. If you select "Yes" then it quits the install. However, looking in the process directory the .dll file is installed correctly and the plugin works in MP (however it is not listed in the list of installed plugins within MPEI).

    2) When I select music using the shares view, all the shares are shown in very small red text which is difficult to read. Also when I move up and down through the list of shares, there is no highlighting of the selectable item (which means it is impossible to use the screen to choose and select music).

    3) When I played a movie from moving pictures (which was half played from earlier in the day) the message box asking if I want to continue watching from time x:xx remained on the second display after I have selected yes.

    4) I am still a bit confused about how the screen can be used without a touch-screen display. The screen provides excellent "situational awareness" of what the system is doing. However it is not intuitive to use a remote to navigate this second display (with the main TV switched off). This is due to the cut-down home screen menu in comparison to the menu options on the main TV screen. I use X-Factor skin in "Images - RSS" menu layout, so to navigate to use the radio function, I press left twice, and then down twice. With the main TV screen switched off, I have to rely on my memory of the layout, so I move to "music", then press down until it shows "Radio". If I press down too many times, then I end up on the RSS ticker, which then means you are lost (as pressing up will take you to the default menu number set in X-Factor config). Personally, I think that for people using a normal monitor (not a touch-screen) as a second screen you basically have to have a full copy of the home screen otherwise it is easy to get completely confused (which will reduce the WAF massively :D).

    Hopefully this is useful feedback for you. If you need any logs then please let me know.

    Hi robbo,

    the first two mentioned points will be past with next release.
    The message at the end of installation is due to the start of the config of MPD2, but it need's the MP config to be opened. Because of that, there allways comes this message. I have removed the start of MPD2 config after install. The second one is allready done by sa_ddam.

    The third thing is my fault. I used the same commands for every skin I made, but in one skin the standard selected button is no and in the other it's yes. I allready made changes to this and will be available with next release. (but not the thing, that there is no text in the dialog boxes. It's standing in Mantis and will follow later)

    Point 4 is correct at this time. You have to use a skin with Normal Homescreen in conjuction with noTouchSkin to get clearly through the menus. I will think over it in future when the Plugin gets slowly to final if it's possible to get this feature to work.

    Hey,

    Rename to MPDisplay2.mpe1
    Sometimes IE changes the extention of mpe1's to zip (they a structurally similar)

    Hi sa_ddam213

    Even when set to Listview it does not show any lists.
    And yes, I'm using TVServer latest SVN too.
    Not using 4TR.

    Hey,

    There seems to be an error in the Window_Television.xml.
    Edit the file, Right at the bottom there is 2 section close tags </section>
    Looks like this:
    </section>
    </section>
    </MPDisplay2>

    Should be this:
    </section>
    </MPDisplay2>

    On the other issue the listcontrol has been reworked, so next release should resolve all the list issues

    Hey Robbo,

    The GUI was designed to be completly customizible , So in theroy you can design a skin for whatever you need, The default skin will not apply for everyones situation. As the plugin enters the Beta stage and the feature freeze is applyed, More skins with different layouts/Functionality will roll out from us and other users.

    Basicly the alpha is to test general plugin/control functions (Buttons, Labels, Images, List Etc).
    Beta will be features like screen settings, animations, feature requests
    RC will be strictly performace related/Skin related

    Thanks for the feedback
    Sa

    Hi together,

    that was not a error of the Window_Televison.xml with the two section close tags.
    Surely it was wrong, but I have seen this allready after release and changed it, but there was no list too. So I took a look into the mytvhome.xml of MP. There is no ListControl. There are Buttons.
    I made a small workaround for next release. Not every Button will work cause I don't know yet the right commands, but there will be an entry for some things for it in Mantis these day's. I'll wait first for the next release of the plugin, before I will do that.

    Cheers,

    Re: MPDisplay2 - MP Secondary Display

    Hi @ll,

    yesterday I've installed the current alpha using MP1.1.2 (W7x64). It just worked without editing anything, great work!

    I didn't have much time testing the plugin but two things caught my eye:

    1. When choosing the secondary display in configuration it displays 0 for the primary, 1 for the secondary display. According to Windows the numbering is 1 and 2. Just to avoid confusing choices it would be better to follow this numbering.

    2. When starting TV the touchscreen turns black as long as I select the channel fullscreen. Then everything is displayed correctly. Bug or works as designed? :)

    Gonna test the plugin the next days and will let you know about potential bugs!

    Thanks a lot for this great work, it really looks pretty professional!
