I don't really get what benefit this plugin gives, sorry. You say it's to allow users to control stuff without having the TV on, but they still need to put the other TV/monitor on!

I already see the exact same thing on my TV and monitor, because my dual-output graphics card (actually HD3200 IGP) is in Clone mode, so if I wanted to I could put my monitor in another room. I don't have any problems with booting my PC with the TV off, as it seems to still communicate it's presence to my graphics card, although perhaps other TVs and cards might not work as well.

I'd still need some way of making a remote work from the other room though, which wouldn't be easy as I use the IR receiver built-in to my Nova-T 500 card.

Perhaps if I were using an MCE USB remote receiver, it would be possible to have one in each room (if MP and Windows XP support two identical receivers) and then have a remote in each room as well.

This was originaly designed for Touchscreens(MPTouch) but alot of users asked for non touchscreen support,So the plugin was rebuilt for this purpose

If you have a small touchscreen in your room you won't need a remote.

I presume that both your displays in clone mode are displaying the same resolution. In my case, the will not display full 1080, so will not clone. I presume using a small touch screen will have exactly the same problem - hence the plugin is useful to me.

Unless of course, you have an easy method of clone displaying two different resolutions (I have seen some software but display performance is severely affected by the de-scaling on the smaller monitor).

Yeah, my TV's running at 1280x720@60hz and my 19" non-widescreen CRT monitor is doing it's best to display that It's not ideal (would be much better if my monitor was a widescreen LCD), but I only really use the monitor like that when I'm debugging MP, posting on these forums, or installing stuff, so it's not a problem. I use a KVM and switch to my other PC running at 1280x1024@85hz for everything non-MP related, but sometimes I leave the KVM switched to the MP PC when watching the TV and I see everything replicated on the monitor.

Yeah, that makes sense and I can see it being useful for users like robbo, who need to run two screens at different resolutions, which clone mode doesn't support, so keep up the good work

Good point about a touchscreen doing away with the need for a second remote. Maybe one day I'll have one of those

This plugin is VITAL for users that have these kind of HTPC cases (this is mine):

Without MPTouch (previous plugin) mediaportal users could not be able to use the secondary touchscreen. Soundgraph (iMon) didn't give us a mediaportal support despite the many promises made over the years.

Thanks Kernel.32,

StreamedMP will follow when correct display of Backdrops/Fanart is possible.
By now it's to laggy and the most ones will not be shown up. So I removed this feature in my NoTouch Version.
Within the next days I will comunicate with high! to open a new DL Section in DL Repository (So that there is not only Default and Widescreen, but MPDisplay2 too)

thank for this awesome plugin! It works a lot faster and smoother than version 0.0.4.0. Great work!

But, there are still some problems.

-When I go to live tv, every information is right on the touchscreen; I see wich program is playing, the channellogo etc.. The problem is, when I zap to another channel, the information don't change. Only when I restart live television, the info is correct again. I'm using the for the record tv server. Maybe this is the problem?

-My system is a little bit slower when I use this plugin. When i'm starting Mediaportal, the menu's are a litle bit slower. Any idea if the performance get a boost in next version?

-sometimes it take some time (20/30 seconds) until I get the remotecontrol to show on the touchscreen.

-I can not customize almost anything in the plugin config. Only the resolution. Is that right?

It takes a time till the information changes. Just wait a few seconds (normaly). You have 4TR installed and that could be the problem. I had this plugin too, but the development on the plugin let me to deinstall it. Problem is, that sa_ddam hasn't this plugin. But I ill test tommorrow on this. If it's a issue, I will take it over to the Bugtracker.

Please remember, we are in Alpha state. So this are problems that can happen. I have a quite bad machine to test (i7, GTX460), I don't have this issue. But I think this is a thing sa_ddam will work on.

This could be a performance thing like above eather. I don't have this problem here.

For now - yes. But you can change the skin if you wish to test more than one. With which one do you have startet? Standard or some of the others?


BTW: It's better, if someone encounters a skin problem, to write down which skin you are using.

I'm working on StreamedMP, but with release there will be no Backdrops/Fanart. I will implement this later after performance improvement.

thanks for your quick responce..

I geus I was a litle to fast with my conclsion. The stuttering has an other reason I gues, because now everything is fine!

I have test the problem with the tv information. the only way to refresh the information on the touchscreen when I have change a channel, is to press the pauze button, and than play.. Than the information changed. So, I gues it 's not a problem with for the record..

Another strange problem is, when I use the plugin, and have watched television, watched a movie, or listen to some music, and i go back to the home screen (I have streamedMP skin on MP 1.1.2) than I still see the submenu of the item where I come from. Do you know what I meen? If you don't I can upload a screenshot

Hey Powermarcel,

I can confirm/reproduce the TV info update bug (added to tracker).
I had a workaround for this in MPTouch so I can just add this code to MPDisplay2.
The issue is that MP only updates this info every minute unless you open OSD or pause etc.
The workaround just sends a message to MP to update the info when a channel changes.
