i was having some sql (ms sql express) related problem causing mp to crash (.net crash dialog), so i thought it would be easier to just start fresh, uninstalled mediaportal+server & then went for sql, its uninstall failed. so im stuck with an uninstallable sql thus no mediaportal.
i tried the mp installer hoping it could just overwrite & be fine, but sql install failed.

what now?

i'd like to have a fresh install of sql & mp without a format or maybe just switch to another program.

thanks
but i don't understand one of the first steps "Delete the local security groups", the page it sends me to doesn't help explain either.

I think it should be no problem to go on with the manual uninstall guide without deleting the groups.

But if you want to, right click on "My Computer", select "Manage". Look for "Local Users and Groups" (something like that), next select "Groups". In there, you should find several Groups starting with "SQLServer..." - delete them. Maybe you have to stop the SQLServer Service(s) first!

thanks, but theres no sql groups, theres only one sql named service, vss writer.
vss writer complains on boot about not being able to load or something & stops itself

step1 "Microsoft SQL Server Setup Support Files" is in the list, skip to step2
step2 run "%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\ARPWrapper.exe" /Remove
error dialog, "ARP Wrapper, Registry enumeration failed."

"Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager to delete.." how? its not in Control Panel/Administrative Tools
