MSN messenger plugin don't work? (1 Viewer)

Hi,

Hmmm something goes wrong inside the XihSolutions MSN API. Authentication with the MS Nexus contact list service somehow fails. No idea why it fails for you though... Could you try to download the latest version of the XihSolutions MSN API DLL from here. Copy the new XihSolutions.DotMSN.dll from the dll directory to MP_HOME\plugins\windows\. Make sure you backup the old one.

If that also fails, maybe you could try to create a new MSN account (just for testing) to see if it works then.

Thanks heaps for all your help so far. I copied the new dll into the directory, and tested with a new hotmail address, but unfortunately it didn't make a difference.
It has worked for me before, but I have formatted since then.

Well, if you are talking about the "MSN messenger plugin" that was written by Frodo (the original developer of MP), he doesn't show up much on these forums. But here is what you need to do in order to get a developer to look at the problem.

First thing to do is to find out if this problem already exists in the Mantis tracking - http://mantis.team-mediaportal.com/view_all_bug_page.php.

Then if it is not already in Mantis, then I would first post the problem as a bug under the bug forum section (https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/viewforum.php?f=18) and make sure you have all the necessary info - make sure you read the sticky note and get the support tool so it can create the necessary info for you and then you can copy and paste the template info (from the support tool) and place it in the bug forum area. If that doesn't seem like it is getting the action you want then (and only after going through these prior steps) you could post your problem on the test teams forum - http://www.testteam-mediaportal.com/Joomla/

I know it may seem like a pain but without going through this, it may not get looked at, this is due to other higher priority bugs which are currently being worked on and hopefully being fixed.

OK - I looked into this a little more and found out from the Test Team forum the following problem:

Basically it says:

first test : launch msn messanger plugin start a chat with a contact using keyboard then try to use number ( SMS style) -> MP freeze type Esc -> MP crash

second test : launch msn messenger plugin, start a chat with a contact using keyboard then the contact (using a real msn messenger) close his msn chat windows -> MP crash

This has been fixed in svn-04-27-2006--01-03.

If this is not your problem then you need to follow what I talked about in my previous post to get it looked at by the developers.

Problem when using keyboards in MSN & fullscreen TV

MP 0.2RC4 + mediaportal-svn-04-29-2006--01-04

Some of the characters cannot be used when using fullscreen & chatting on MSN.

Reproduce:
Enable MSN plugin (you need someone to chat with or enable a second account)

First test if all letters works in normal MSN Messenger chat window
Start MP -> MSN Messenger, start a chat, here the “r†& “-“ it’s not working.

Then go to myTV & Fullscreen TV-> Menu -> MSN Messenger OSD. 
Here the most of the letters wont work, because they’re used in MyTV, so when testing with a chat the recording started, sound mute etc.., & chat window disappeared.

Hopefully this info will help you guys that are wanting to know about problems with the MSN plugin.
