After a lot of messing about I've discovered that my 5.1 surround flac version of Wish You Were Here will only play properly if 'Upmix to 5.1/7.1' is unchecked in the configuration. Which of course means that all of my standard mp3s only come out of the front 2 speakers.

With upmix on it sounds like all the channels are upmixed and when the system volume is changed it makes popping noises (very strange), but all other files play perfectly. With upmix off the 5.1 ch flac sounds absolutely awesome and does not make any popping noises when the system volume is adjust3ed, but all the other files sound terrible (as they only come out the front speakers).

I'm using the Bass engine, should it be ignoring upmix on multi channel audio?

<edit>P.S. I tried using direct show for music and let ffdshow handle it, things worked correctly but the performance was terrible so this is not an option for me</edit>

The current implementation of the BASS engine has several problems using Multi channel files.
It most probably won't work at all.

I'm currently rewriting it for the 1.3.0 release

Thanks. It works fine as long as you don't make it upmix (perhaps it upmixes the front l/r channels to all channels). Anyway, keep up the great work.
