Hi all,

I have two dvb-t cards in my PC, a kworld and a twinhan. I recently re-installed Xp and Mp and now have some issues with scanning for TV stations. If I autotune the Kworld card not all channels are picked up, If I scan the twinhan all channels are found. However, some of the channels are not viewable in my tv and the screen stays blank. The log files shows that when trying to view these channels the signal strength is 0.
I changed the card priorities in setup and swapped them over. After this some but not all of the unavailable channels were viewable ... weird as before re-installing I never had any problems whatsoever.

My questions are:-
What issues does the multiple dvb tuners patch (in the stickies) actually address? What issues have other users experienced?
I'm reluctant to hack my Xp install at the moment with this patch and really only want to do it as a last resort.

Hope someone can shed some light on this problem and thanks for reading my post.

Neil.

You shouldn't be reluctant as it is not a hack - its an update to MCE that needs to be applied to XP too, to make DVB tuners work correctly. I recommend you apply the "multi-DVB" patch before struggling with this issue any further...:)

As to some channels not being viewable - check that their frquencies are correct. There is a "known bug" in MP where autotune will capture an incorrect frequency for some channels, and this could be what you are experiencing....:(

    Hi,

Finally got it working - Installed the multi tuner patch, rebooted, checked that patch files were still current - they were. Re-scanned channels, problem remained. After deleting and re-adding the tuners in MP config I finally un-installed the kworld card drivers and rebooted pc so that the kworld card was not working. Rescanned the twinhan card, all channels found, tested problem channels, all ok. Re-installed the kworld drivers (supplied by windows update rather than the kworld website), rebooted, re-tested MP, all still OK. Re-added the kworld in MP config.
Retested MP, all channels OK. Assigned all channels to the Kworld card in MP config, restated MP and all channels working now.

Bit convoluted but it all seems to be OK now.

Next job - create an Acronis full disk image backup before I do anything else to the system.

Thanks for the input, I'm a happy bunny again now.
