Multiple Hard Drives in Mediaportal? (1 Viewer)

I'm not sure why you'd want to sort by share if you have that many movies. Alphabetical by title for me works best. I use a MCE remote and the Remote filtering is a godsend.

I have my shares sorted Kids/family, war, scifi, horror, new releases, musicals I like it that way as it works for me.
also as have sub folders with collections like harry potter, star wars etc.

For my TV Series I use Tv-series plugin, it's very good for tv, with my movies I pretty much stick to MP's My Video as Moving pictures doesn't sort movies by shares as far as I can work out and I have my movies (1200+) sorted by shares across multiple disks.

just fyi when you use the .CD1, CD2 with your movies you can have .CD3, .CD4 etc

Ok so I went through exactly 5,836 movies that I have and changed all names to the actual names of the movie (before the .avi would be named something like batmanretrnsA.avi) so now its Batman Returns CD1.avi. Now Im not sure if having them in a folder makes a difference, D:\Batman Returns\Batman Returns CD1.avi , but when I ran the update, it found "conflicts" with almost all my movies, and of course every single tv series. I havent yet installed the Tv plugin that was mentioned above, I will try that today and I imagine that I just run another update and hopefully it will work with them.

A couple other things went wrong as well.

A lot of movies that I had were changed to some other language, I think Chinese, so for example a movie I have called "Once upon a time in the West" is now in French another is in German.

I still have two movies covers in My Videos for every movie that has two files even after I named them respectively EX: Borat CD1.avi Borat CD2.avi


Also when I enter MediaPortal and goto My Videos, it shows the number 743 or something, "total videos", but I can browse through like 20 before then number moves up by one, Is there a way to change it so it reflects the actual amount of movies?

And lastly for now, I use a Logitech Dinovo Mini for my media center remote, which is a awesome remote btw, however, I have to press B for pause and I cant find a fast forward or rewind on the remote that works, I went into settings and looked at the mapping section but couldnt find the area where I would double click a command and just press a button on my remote to reprogram it...not that simple?

Ok so I used the "Awesome SImply the best tv show renamer" and it renamed a few of my tv series, but not most. I see that it actually wants the episodes to follow a certain format, which is the name of the show, the season, then episode, so a normal downloaded file would look like: the.sopranoes.s06e04.axxo.blahblah.mkv and it changes it to the.sopranoes.s06e04.mobepisode.mkv accordingly. However a lot of my shows for some reason or other are just not picked up in the renamer.

Next I installed the Tv-series plugin and could not for the life of me figure out what to do in it, parse this, import that. I messed around a bit and it lighted up green on my Lost season 1 so I hit import and now when I start mediaportal, Lost is the only show listed under Tv Series, however not all the episodes pop up correctly.

Ive finally got all movies to have a cover, this was done manually for a lot of movies that were indie films or foreign films, however I had to go under the GUI settings and basically filter OUT, all Adult movies, and all Tv season and series so that I dont get like 90 dvd covers for Friends Season, or Man Vs Wild etc... this is what I figure everyone else did, I had almost thought that by installing and using Tv-series plugin, it would automatically hide any of those series from popping up under Moving Pictures.

Also do you turn off My Videos when using the Moving pictures plugin? I havent yet but it would seem logical as the My videos is basically a dumbed down version of Moving Pictures.

I also have some Bluray playback issues but only when inside mediaportal. When I play a .mkv file outside of mediaportal, it opens them up in the basic win media player, and plays fine, when I open any bluray up in mediaportal, the audio is all choppy and its at like 20 fps. I tried messing around with audio render under settings and video playback codec, but this didnt change anything.

lastly whats a good looking sexy skin that works with all the plugins like tv-series and moving pictures. I am using Xface, but it gives me some plugin compatibility message when I enter moving pictures..

the.sopranoes.s06e04.axxo.blahblah.mkv should be fine for naming, I have alot of different shows named all different and it picks them up fine. For example I have Drity Jobs and there named different like this

Dirty.Jobs.4x10.Monkey.Caretaker.(PDTV).BiTSrg
dirty.jobs.603.hdtv.xvid-sys
dirty.jobs.s05e01.ws.dsr.xvid.k4rm4

And it picks them up just fine

Just add the folder or drive where all you tv shows are at (btw its alot easier if you have a drive with tv shows and movies jsut make a folder for each to seperate them) and then hit import and let it parse them by itself. If you have any problem parsing the files they will be listed in red on the import page.

As I mentioned above make folders for each type of movies/tv shows. Like on 1 drive have 3 folders movies,adult,tvshows etc.. Then when you choose the drive for movies add the folder named movies and you wont have anything else in that drive listed but whats in the folder you selected.

You dont have to I use both, Movingpictures for all main movies and the My Videos for all other, like short films, documentaries and other stuff I know wont scan in or dont need scanned in to the database.

What codecs are you using for video and audio?

Did you download the Movingpictures beta? If so it was just released and some skins arent setup for it yet. You can search for a skin thats ready for the new Movingpictures or install the last release of movingpictures. I personally love X-Factor skin but its not setup for the new Movingpictures yet but it wont be long the skinner is working on it now.
