just got media centre running, we have 4 computers in the house (3+Media Centre). What i want to do is source files from the 3 other computers, to run on the media box. The categories are:

Movies
TV Series
Music Videos

Music

Pictures.

Is it possible to change the menu options in Media Portal (eg: My Videos, My Music, My Radio) ... adding in "My TV-Series" or "My Music Videos?"

This is because i cant seem to get MediaPortal to source from more than one at a time, it only sources from one folder at a time so that is no good.

Any solutions to this problem?

While the explorer view can only show one directory at a time, if you add the music/video's to the database you can use the database view to show from all shares.

Ill move this to a better spot too.

Add all your shares to the Music section for example. Then goto Music database and press Update database from selected shares (tick all of the ones you want).

Inside MP go into MyMusic and change views, eg Genre, Artist or All Songs. Works the same for MyVideos.

You can have as many shares as you want in MediaPortal. Even FTP shares.

I think the problem you have is that when you add a share, it is automatically selected as a default share (little tick next to it).

Just remove the tick and then you should be fine. I have Video files on many hard drives on a number of PCs around the house. When I go to "My Videos", since I have no default selected, I am presented with them all, laid out as "Movies,TV Series,Fresh Downloads,Misc" and etcetera.

In fact i think is, that he wants eg "//computer1/video" and "//computer2/video" appear as "video" in MP, so lets say, many folders as one single.

i woul prefer the way recommend few posts above to reach that, but i've seen a way/prog to create a virtual drive/folder containing various folders from various drives (and maybe various computers) but the hell i can't find it anymore[/quote]

    was this feature considered?

I am currently using XBMC in my bedroom to access downloaded videos in my PC thru SMB.

My sister wants to access the same data using her PC in her room. I found Mediaportal as the best solution (compared to getting another XBOX). But I too am having the same problem with this guy.

Unlike XBMC, Mediaportal can set only one path per folder. It would be more convenient if a folder/point can accept multiple smb sources.

    Hope you'll consider this feature.
