Multishortcut plugin to execute programs from home menu! (1 Viewer)

Like you copied entire folder "plugins" from archive to C:\program files\team mediaportal\mediaportal folder,
you need to copy entire folder "language" from archive to C:\program files\team mediaportal\mediaportal folder too.
This will create a subfolder C:\program files\team mediaportal\mediaportal\language\MultiShortcut with xml files needed.

I created a multishortcut for iTunes...for this i have to enable in the MP Config -> External Player -> iTunes. Then the Multishortcut Plugin works....otherwise it will stay disabled in MP Config -> Windows Plugins. Anyone else encounter this problem...however it works now very fine...Thx for this cool PlugIn.

I have another question, maybe someone can answer it. So my first setup is finished and everything is working quite good for the beginning. But now I want to do some finetuning (skins etc.). Can I use the multishortcut Plugin with the avaible skins...or are there any limitations?

It's better to change MP skin before configuring MultiShortcut plugin.
If you use pictures for launching .exe files, don't forget to copy your pictures into the new folder skin\your new skin used\media.

Problem using MultiShortCut w/RC2

Hi -

I also really like this plugin, however I am running into a couple of problems:

1) The first time you try to configure a new DLLFix-ed plugin, you are not able to edit the text fields in the configuration. Only by saving configuration, exiting completely, and then restarting Configuration and re-entering new shortcut plugin Config can you access the values.

2) Ever since installing the MultiShortcut DLL's on my MP 1.0.0.0 RC2 setup, MediaPortal now takes a very long time to startup and shutdown, and also MediaPortal.exe can be seen on the Task List for a long time after it appears to have exited. If you try to start Configuration during this time, it tells you that MediaPortal is still running - would you like to shut it down? etc. If you say yes, WatchDog jumps up and tells you MediaPortal just crashed unexpectedly.

3) The same thing happens with Configuration.exe - even after saving configuration and last dialog disappears, Configuration.exe is in the process/task list for a long time.

Using the 8-Aug version just downloaded - was this version tested on RC2?

For 2) and 3), I'm not sure that MultiShortcut plugin cause your problem.
What .exe do you launch with MultiShortcut ?
Your problem seems to be a process thread working in background and, it's sill not ended (even with MP closed).
Example : MP update its videodatabase or, another database (like TVdatabase with TVguide.xml information) and so on.
btw without logs, it's difficult to answer to your problem.

Thx for this Plugin, i like it but have one problem with it.

Its dont works with some Programs/Games. For example the SingStar Clone "Ultra Star" or the Game "rFactor".
Its a directory Problem, that means that the exefile from the program or the game dont start in his Directory so the Program or game dont find the other needet files. Its need a chdir() bevor start the exe.

I have build a small program that do it bevor start the exe.
Now you dont set in the configuration of Multishortcut the path to the Game exe, just set the exe Path to my tool and
set in the Arguments section two arguments. First is the Path to the exe (without / at the end), second one is the exefilename.

Example:
Arguments: "C:/games/rfactor" "rfactor.exe"
Exefile: c:/path/to/tool/exestarter.exe

Its works fine for me and i hope the autor of this tool can add a chdir() bevor start the exe, then i dont need my tool anymore.
