Hi,

I have my music and video files in a different location from the default My Music and My Videos folders initially set by MP. I've tried changing the 'shares' using the Media Portal Setup software but despite storing the settings MP itself still points to the original My Music and My Video folders.

Can anyone help me change these settings?

Cheers JB

    Hi,
In MP Setup & folder setup for each use Edit & change the location.

    Hi Roy,

Thanks for the quick reply! Unfortunately I've tried that already with no luck. The settings are stored in MP setup yet not reflected in MP itself.

I have found a review of MP at PC Mechanic which mentions this problem in the section on My Music.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks JB

    Hi,
Did you enable the "last used folder" option, if so you should be able to navigate up & get a new list with the folders you added.

    Regards

Hi, I have now ticked the box and restarted but I still have the same problem. I'm not too sure what you mean by 'navigate up'. In MP I can not navigate any further than the My Videos folder in My Documents.

    Hi,
hmm thats weird, try to switch view to "shared" or grab latest SVN & test, maybe there where something that was fixed later, i cannot remember seeing this issue with MP 0.2.2.0.

If you add a extra folder in setup does it show up then.
On top of the list there should be a arrow up & when clicking that you should end up in a new list containing all folders.

You do close MP before running MP Setup?

    Regards
    Roy

    Hi Roy,

All sorted now, the only thing I really did any differently was to re-boot the PC after I'd changed the settings to ensure that MP had re-started.

When I started and closed MP setup before it always asked me if I wanted to re-start MP and I always clicked yes. But this time I tried a re-boot as well. Seems to have done the trick.

Thank you for your time and patience

    JB

    Hi,
Yeah, MP needs to be closed before saving, if not the settings file it's not reloaded & you still use the old settings.
Nice that it is solved ;)

    Regards
