Music - folder thumbs (1 Viewer)

Hi!

I have a problem with creation of folder thumb in "Album Artist" view when dealing with compilations.

Here it is:


You see that "Blue Note Trip" doesn't have a folder thumb created, but an album inside does (so does the disk# view and the tracks view):


Here is how the tagging is done for this album:


Album Artist and Album is the same for all the tacks.
The tracks have different Artist and Title depending on tracks themself (naturally).
"Part of a compilation" is used for all the tracks.
Disk # is used (1/2 and 2/2).
foder.jpg is used and album art is embedded in tags.


And then this happened:


You can see that for "St. Germain" there's a "Blue Note Trip" picture listed as an album in folder thumb, in Album Artist View. And when inside, there's no such album for this Album Artist.
This Artist/ Album Artist is listed as one of the Artists in "Blue Note Trip" compilation.

This gives me a conclusion that folder thumbs are created and shown for Artist and not for Album Artist, even when in Album Artist View.
It also appears that every Artist in "Blue Note Trip" compilation has it's own backdrop, not relevant to Album Artist, but to Artist itself.


So, is there any way to tweak something in config to force MP in creation Album Artist based thumb?
It's kinda silly to have a picture of compilation album placed in thumb, in Album Artist view, for an Artist that happened to be in that compilation.

The whole thumb creation code needs some attention (http://mantis.team-mediaportal.com/view.php?id=3456)

It looks like you are already using fanarthandler? If so you can stop from generating thumbs and let fanarthandler do it (and it does it much better than MP does now)

Yeah, sorry i forgot to mention that fanarthandler makes the backdrops (i actually thought i disabled it). I didn't like the way it works, sometimes it didn't find artists (less known or something), and i kinda never found time to deal with it's config more.. But the issue still stands, and i don't want to disregard the default MP's thumb generator, it's simple and i like it. It doesn't need any attention besides the "folder.jpg" placement and that's a default practice for me anyways..

But as i said, the non created thumb for "Blue Note Trip" is not a big problem- i'll make it manually. Biggest issue is the whole "St. Germain" situation that i don't know how to work around.


One more thing- when Artist has less than 4 albums in database, folder thumb is created containing pictures of those albums. If i ingest another album of the same artist, the folder thumb does not recreate itself to contain the picture of that new album. Unless i manually delete it and re-scan the music.
I don't know if this is the normal behavior or something else to be looked in..

Currently the auto thumb generator does what it does
Thumb handling in general needs sorting out and there is a mantis entry for this. Sorting out auto thumb generation however is not high on my list
