Have you tried turning off the 'visualisations' (I think they are called) in MP music setup ?

You could also try disabling the ATi driver service (msconfig -> services) which may stop Windows & MP from seeing changes in the connected displays.

    I don't use visualizations :)
I will try stopping/disabling the ATi Driver Service - perhaps that will help. I will report back as soon as I get to try it out.

Today I tried looking for the ATi Driver Service. However, I don't have such a service.
The only ATi-related service I have on my XP system is ATi Hotkey Poller (or something like that).

Still looking for a solution :)
    Any help appreciated.

Owlsroot, disabling the ATi Hotkey Poller service seemed to do the trick.
THANK YOU very much, this little issue had me really annoyed for a while :)
