I generally recommend you use mysql or sql server if you have more than 200 series.
However at 261, it really shouldn't be that slow.
I'll test again to see how my test collection performs on sqlite.

Ah oki, i'm sorry i actually did not read the installation guide in this thread, where it sates that SQL-Lite is just default because its the most easy. I actually just read the googlecode documentations. I will try to switch to mysql and report back, btw does this means i have to re-import/hash all again?

Thx

PS: Is there a recommendation SQl-Server vs MySql? Which one is more responsive/faster, i don't care about memory or cpu usage, since its running on a dedicated media PC anyway, with some decent memory and dual core CPU (intel pentium 630T).

Hi,

i just installed the MySQL server and now i reimport all again, what i don't understand is why it takes so long again? I enabled and send all files/hash to the webcache, so why is the server actually hashing all files again? Did the system change, since in MA2 the name+size was used for the webcache, which should be nearly instant if also the none restricted webcache api is used? So why do i see physical hashing and slow per files requests, which seem to gather AniDB data, rather than instant files lookups using the webcache?

Thx Andy

Can you check your options to make sure the web cache is enabled for hashes?
Only the hashing of files comes from the web cache, most of the time is still taken by getting data from AniDB.

So how exactly does this work? I've installed MediaPortal, set up MySQL, hashed my directory with JMM Server, installed MA3, and I can see info displayed in JMM Desktop, but nothing has changed in MediaPortal. I only have the two default skins and no information or views changed.

Check MP Plug-in subcategories, also make sure via MP configure under plug-ins that MA3 is enabled.

Oh, how silly of me. I checked the plugin submenu earlier and for whatever reason (perhaps I checked before even installing MA3?) it wasn't listed.

Thank you.

Yes i always had those options get/send enabled, i tried disabling all the extra hashes (md5, crc ..) and this seems to help, since i noticed some series to instantly get hashed. So i assume those extra hashes are not send to the webcache and therefor if enabled need to-be calculated again, even if a successfully web-cache hit was found? If so maybe add a option, to only hash files that are missed by the web-cache, since it obsoletes the web-cache or also send those to the web-cache? I guess the extra hashes are only send to AniDB?

I finished re-importing all using MySQL and the speed difference over SQL-Lite is extreme, now the "All" group for my 270 series opens in like 1 second, before it was more than 15 seconds. So thx for the clarification, so i would "strongly" recommend to always use MySQL over SQL-Lite, since the speed difference is so extreme.

thx Andy

PS: I notices some strange "quick-sort" results using sorting by "rating" and the "All" view, i tested this. Basically the result was random or in some order i could not comprehend? What i was looking for was a sort by AniDB rating?

Hi,

i also have a other problem, some of my series are wrongly flagged in MA3, this means some episodes are wrongly flagged unwatched? No matter what settings i tried and how often i hit AnDB-Sync, those files stay "unwatched", but they are flagged watched in aniDB? What is the procedure to get a correct sync for my files using the AniDB data?
