My Daily Comics Plugin (1 Viewer)

Hi,
it works on 1.0 final on my Computer.
I just found this great Plugin some minutes ago and I am so happy.
But i would also like a kind of Database. Everytime i start MP i have to download the Comics I want to watch.
Is there a way to store the temp files of the Comics?
I ask this because of my very slow internet connection.

Hi MaddinM

Sorry, there are no plans to keep any "old" comics stored on the computer. The main purpose of this plugin - as the name suggests - is to view your daily comics. And you'll always need an internet connection to view those.

So i have to hope my Provider improves its infrastructure to have even more fun with this plugin;-)

For users who like Hagar the horrible (Hägar , der Schreckliche in german) :
Add this to your Comics.xml, just change the comic id number.

I was trying this out again and now it seems to be working for me, well I do still have issues but it's probably me doing something wrong.
I found this site;
Dagelijkse Strips en Comics, Fokke en Sukke

I got the Sigmund strips working ("Dagelijkse Sigmund") with this;

I want to get some others in there too, like Stamgasten, they have an URL formatted like (I take stamgasten for this example);

http://www.lqq.be/wp-content/uploads/stamgasten/[yyyy]-[MM]-[dd].gif

That does not work, the format should be ok like that but it does not pick it up for some reason. Is there someone who can help me out?
The list I'd like to get from that site (which I couldn't get going so far);

Hi joz

I checked out your site and you've done everything right... they work!
What might be the problem is that some of your wanted comics don't appear daily (anymore). for example, the last comic of "Goedemorgen" was released in december 2007. if you "jump" to this date in MediaPortal, you should see the comic.

Is there something I am doing wrong? I installed the plug-in. I am using MP 1.0. I get error that plug is old and will not load in settings and in MP.

Did you copy the MyDailyComics.dll into your Plugins/Windows folder and the Commic.xml into your MediaPortal Folder?
I got it working with 1.0 just fine.

MaddinM you were right I double checked. I did not place comic.xml in media portal directory. I did that and it did not show up.. but I did not get error. So I changed to home menu and everything is working fine. Thanks I did miss the plug-in.

This is my #1 favo plugin! Absolutely great. It works in StreamedMP. (the date and title is a bit dark but the comic shows fine!).

Would be nice if one could zoom in to the comics. For instance the Garfield comics. Most are 3-picture. But some are 3 lines of pictures and small text is difficult to read.

Before I had MP, I used Nintendo Wii (added Yahoo comics, Garfield to the favorites) and it had zoom function, very handy.

Peanuts

Hi,

I´m still looking for working settings for Peanuts Cartoons.
The default didn´t work for me.
I found Comics and Editorial Cartoons: Peanuts on Yahoo! News that almost matches the needed structure.
The direct link to the gif also matches close http://d.yimg.com/a/p/umedia/20090308/cp.b8152ef959ef8bd38d779c12150d2722.gif. The problem is the randomly created string after cp..
Is it possible to set a placeholder for this string? Or can anybody els get it working somehow?
